Electric foldable scooters
 

I'm tryin to take advantage of the Evergreen line and drive less to work. That being said, my first/last mile connection to the skytrain is about 1km total. Riding a bike is an option, but with rush hour, I often see cyclists fighting for a spot on the train.

I'm looking to get a foldable scooter because it's a safer option than those electric skateboards. Anyone have suggestions or places to purchase one?


I see Xiaomi has 2 scooters, but I cant seem to find any retailers that ship here.

You probably want to double check with city bylaws, but I'm guessing that chances are, if you go by the book, this type of thing will probably be illegal.

Just something to keep in mind.

Good luck with those things when it gets wet. I really wanted one but living in vancouver no way..... not worth the risk of those tiny tires hydroplaning. Bigger tires would defeat the portability of them so it's a lose lose situation.

If you buy it from China, you might use manybo, they will gather your items in their warehouse and transfer to Canada. Just like point robert.

I want to get one as well, but the city doesn't allow it on the street.

i think id rather spend 10 mins walking than be an adult riding/carrying a scooter

if the evergreen's anything like expo/canada line during rush hour...please don't bring your bike on board

sorry not the answer your looking for, but just walk those 2000m 5x a week...some times I wished I had a dog just so I have an excuse to go walk outside in the rain...in reality i've become too reliant on my car

I see kids in the mall with these bad boys. They're space saving and convenient and look super fly. Chicks dig em. I don't know if they make adult sizes but I'm sure they do.

I take my bike on skytrain but on weekends. Last time I check on weekdays you are not allowed to bring bicycles on skytrain during peak rush hour. Unless they changed that policy recently?

OP PLEASE do not take a bike/scooter onto skytrain, they are NOT allowed during rush hour and the people you see fighting for a spot should be slapped.

Also 1km of walk in TOTAL is not that far/long

I had a scooter, and I was looking at the electric ones at one point.

Here is a list of shortcomings:
- Batteries are bricks. Have fun carrying it.
- They take forever to charge up.
- There is no "neutral gear". If you run out of battery, they are hard to push as the motor is always engaged and adds resistance.

They used to have propane scooters as well, with a little propane tank powering a small engine and 3 gears.

Anyway, I bought a foldable one without anything. All was well, then one day, as I was going down a hill, I forgot how to brake properly, so I out my foot on the ground. Big mistake. Flung myself out and scraped both of my knees and my left hand pretty badly. Took a month for the injuries to go.

I sold the scooter to one of my friends(he currently is my roommate). He has at one point misplaced it.

I'd say walk it. It's just not worth it.

Just no. I walk 15 to 20min to the skytrain everyday for work. I was considering a scooter or something like this. My friend was like WTF is wrong with you. Just walk. I guess he is right I sit on my ass 8 hours at work walking a little bit doesn't hurt. I actually enjoy the walk now. Is a bit chilly but after the walk is ok. Also you have to consider it rains a lot here so having a scooter is going to get you wet and what about snow?

If you really want want to walk learn to skateboard. Is small enough to carry around and you can learn a new skill and exercise. I did just that over the summer. Learn skateboard from a Japanese chick and now we hang out all the time. Is actually pretty fun.
