Herzlich Willkommen Dominic, there are lots of different sub forms on Revscene so take a look around and enjoy yourself.

Here is where most of the car talk happens

https://www.revscene.net/forums/vanc...auto-chat_173/

Here is where a lot of the social meets go down but its kinda lacking right now

https://www.revscene.net/forums/non-...ial-meets_199/

if you have any question's don't be afraid to ask but always except smart ass joking comments like yray just made.

fliptuner 11-21-2017 08:15 AM

Yray is the resident Johnny.

What car do you plan on getting, Dom?

Traum 11-21-2017 09:02 AM

Hello Dominic ,

You are going to find that Canadian and American highways suck. That most of our drivers suck. That things are terribly inefficient and slow. That the rain doesn't stop. That 2mm of snow cripples the city. That everyone else seem to be ballers living it large, with a boutique puppy on their lap while sipping $7 lattes everyday.

But hey, if you can get yourself to the ski slopes, get yourself out to some meets and driving events (VCMC / UBCSCC / TSS / SF / the list goes on), when spring and summer comes, you're probably still going to fall in love with this city despite all of its flaws.

Final pro tip -- enjoy the cuilinary scene as much as you can here. Asian food -- think Japanese, Korean, Taiwanese, Chinese, Thai / Malaysian -- are especially good here. Just don't fall into the bearded, thick-rimmed glasses, skinny jeans, v-neck T-shirts look and you'll do alright.

yray 11-21-2017 09:05 AM

yea, more mercs audi and bmw than germany

Welcome!

PeanutButter 11-21-2017 09:49 AM

OP,

Prepare yourself. RS is a great place, but it's kind of like that weird uncle that's nice to you from time to time, but also does some weird ass shit.

Don't take anything anyone says too seriously here. Some of the members are professional trolls and others are professional professionals (if that makes sense) that think they know more than everyone else.

Revscene is also like that buddy that you have that you would never want to date your sister.

If you're okay with that, you might learn to love it here, otherwise, you'll probably leave battered and bruised.

Welcome and good luck!

radioman 11-21-2017 11:32 AM

Dearest Dominic,
I hope this message finds you well.

Coming from the motherland can you reinforce the fact that Porsche is the best automaker in the world.

I just need reassurance from a native of the motherland.

MG1 11-21-2017 12:11 PM

Oh, forgot to mention......... most Vancouverites are really, really whiney. People here whine about anything. If there’s nothing to whine about, they go stir crazy and make up stuff to whine about.

They even whine about whining. You smile and learn to whine. Then you’ll fit right in.

If you need help, though, most Vancouverites are more than willing to help. yray, however, never helps anyone. It’s his nature to just be a trump.

MSREE 11-21-2017 12:36 PM

Dom,

All european guys from work ive known to move here have joined a soccer league and theyve met lots of friends that way. Just an idea if you happen to play soccer :)
Joining a sport is a great way for a young man to make friends here.

Tinder/PlentyOfFish for amusing dating experiences lol. Be warned - people are nuts haha dont take it too seriously. AND ALWAYS USE PROTECTION! And not all girls are as bad as Tegra7 says.

Get some asian friends so you can experience good asian food :)

Stay away from Hastings st.

Invest in a good umbrella and decent raincoat :)

Explore the city! Downtown is great for scenery and its free.

I hope you enjoy our city :)
Ive always wanted to visit Germany!

And ^^ this ^^ is the classic example of someone whining about whining. EleGiggle

Quoted for truth, but I won't elaborate on it further.

I certainly don't pretend to be a saint, but I do try to follow the mantra that a gentleman doesn't kiss and tell, so I hope you'd please forgive me for being light on details.

Woo, Germany! That reminds me that I need to go back and visit family there at some point lol

As others have mentioned, you'll find it a little different here compared to Germany. Our drivers suck by comparison, our roads are generally poorly upkept (at least compared to much of Germany... if you decide to drive east of Alberta, then you're basically on broken concrete non-stop), and you may find that some people in Vancouver and Richmond come across as snobby and unfriendly.

Generally speaking though, we're a much prettier place than Germany. If you like to ski or snowboard, hit up one of the local mountains (Cyprus, Grouse, Seymour) or if you're feeling rich and want to run one of the best mountains then go north to Whistler Blackcomb. Come spring time there's plenty of outdoor events downtown or up in the mountains, whether it's day hiking trips or concerts in Stanley Park. Plus we're not landlocked here, so having the ocean right at your doorstep is great if you like the beach.

As for cars, it's sort of our downtime for meets but come spring time we usually have meets fairly often. We also host one of the largest car meets in BC, if not Canada, once in spring and again in summer. Definitely something you should check out.

Also, welcome to BC!

Ohhh so it's sexy times related eh??? Sounds juicy :fullofwin:
Mine wouldnt really get that far. I used to get a lot of crazy dudes that would think 30 mins to get coffee is a date, then freak out if I posted a pic on IG like I'm at dinner or something assuming it's with another dude. Or after 1 date, would FaceTime me all the time and get mad if I didn't answer lol. Buncha nuts haha.

I just realized you changed your username. Was trying to figure out why there was another user with your picture lol

Welcome to our rainy ass province.

The summer is really nice but the winter sucks.

If you want to find a sports car, have fun finding one in MT... Unless you want an S2k(MT only) or RX-8(AT sucks so much that 99% of them are MT).

What do you have in mind?

Richmond is basically the BMW city. I remember having BMWs all around while I was driving my good old Accord Coupe, LOL.
