*REVIEW* Snap n Go Blackvue hardwiring kit via OBD2 port

This is a great alternative to powermagic!

no need to mess with fuses and all that extra wiring crap and grounding....

just plug it into the OBD2 port of your car!

I tested it with blackvue models: DR380G, DR3500 and DR650S

all worked great. Test car: 2016 CIVIC EX

when the switch is set to ACC mode, the unit will power down the blackvue after 5mins once ignition is cut.

when the switch is set to parking mode, the unit will run the dashcam but will shut it down when battery level drops below 12V.

https://www.7daycam.com

step 1: find your obdII port

step 2: plug in the SnapNgo unit

step 3: run the wiring up your a-pillar/roofline - hide it well...

step 4: attach power lead to dashcam

step 5: set the SnapNgo to acc and turn on car

step 6: flick switch to parking mode if needed

Hope it works better than the Power Magic Pro. My first one died after one year and my second one let my battery drain.

Plugging in a fuse and bolting down one ground wire, what a hardship.

I've been interested in one of these but my question is does the camera usually drain enough to drop below 12v over night? And will the memory card even have enough capacity to record all night?

^ Yes it can, and you don't drive your car every day... say you leave it a couple days on the weekend it will be dead for sure.......... and yes that totally depends on the size of your memory card.

I think its better for enthusiasts especially here on Revscene to tap into fuse. Like what fn-2199 said cobb ap and also other obd2 accessories are used constantly. Plus you want to keep your camera on while dealerships and shops work on your car lol.

For thinkware dashcams to get to parking mode it needs the 3 pole plug

it needs pos, acc and grnd

I’ve been using the snap n go for a year now. With a blackvue 650S and DR3500fhd. No issues. I’m sure blackvue has refined theirs as it’s a much newer version of essentially the same thing and that is obd2 connection for hardwiring.

Edit. For the record I don’t sell or promote these but it’s an excellent easy diy for those not wanting to tinker with the fuse box.

Did you use the snapngo with the thinkware?

The reason why I ask as mentioned above, thinkware dashcams from what I know needs the 3 pole plug which allows the camera to go to parking mode, a 2-pole plug won't allow the dashcam to go into parking mode and will just continuously record.

I’ve got the Thinkware version on order. Hope to have it by end of week to test on f800. Will post results next week.

My point was the ones you have posted should not work with Thinkware dashcams as they don't have the 3 pole plug. With Blackvue PMP you would need to use the thinkware Cig adapter that would not deliver acc/batt/ground to the dashcam enabling it to trigger the dashcam's parking mode.

With a Thinkware dashcam there's a built-in voltage regulator, it will cut power to the dashcam when it reaches the preset voltage. Thus not needed PMP etc.

It wouldn't make sense for Blackvue to make an obd2-> dashcam for Thinkware as how Blackvue enables parking mode is different.

I think I have that one also but always confused with mini vs micro. I had a shit ton of cheap chinese dashcams that use this connection but ended up selling them off... never used this.

This is the connection I have :
