New huge car wash in Coquitlam by Ikea....any good?

Has anyone tried the new automated car wash in Coquitlam just off highway 1 by Ikea? If yes, how good is it and how much does it cost? I drove by a few days ago and there were 4 or 5 cars lined up just past the gates where you pay.....

Looks like all the other Shine washes in Vancouver

I have a cx-3 and the rear is never cleaned properly.

TL;DR: Brine your car with recycled salt water this winter. PJSalt

I go to the Burnaby one a lot during summer.. not bad.. its quick, dont have to wait forever. Id use this one over the hand car wash, IMO

would be surprised if most newer systems don't use grey water

teggy604 01-02-2018 09:53 PM

it works okay. its around 10 to 15 bucks. It wont get under spoilers or parts of your mirror, and it wont do underneath or wheel wells. Depends how picky you are with scratches as well. I go to the self serves car wash bay with a bucket and soap. They have pressure washer so I can get underneath the wheel well as well as underneath the car and give it a good cleaning.

twitchyzero 01-02-2018 09:57 PM

um are there any automated car washes that hits under the wing and into the wheel well?

I just go to xpressauto wash or whatever in Edmunds. $13 and gets undercarriage

It’s because we don’t have lifted rigs that go muddin’

I use the Vancouver Shine all the time and it never do clean the back of the R350 properly. I usually bring a microfiber and wipe it after since there will be water remain on the service anyway.

but the machine do wash it quite so even with line up the wait is not that long.

Acura604 01-03-2018 08:56 AM

TL;DR - if you go to SHINE or SPEEDWASH - don't forget to wipe your ass.... your car behind that is..

It's just bad above the rear bumper because where the plates is the panel indents in. Same with the rear badge, because of the contours it always leaves tons of crap around. But time and time again I still keep going cause I'm wayyyy too lazy to it myself haha

!LittleDragon 01-03-2018 04:05 PM

Lol, I never wash my cars. It gets washed at the dealer when I get my oil changed.

Badhobz 01-03-2018 05:11 PM

Those nontouchless always scratch paint. Touch less is better but still quite harsh

PLUJ 01-03-2018 07:31 PM

Tried the Coquitlam one the other day, came out a lot cleaner than any other touchless washes I've tried. I chose the $15 wash which included undercarriage spray. If you don't mind swirls it's great, I bring my daily there cause I don't really care lol.

twitchyzero 01-03-2018 08:03 PM

paint/clear coat noob, didn't realize touchless can still cause swirls?
mine's already swirl-ception so makes no diff

Touchless washes don't cause swirls, but they use harsher chemicals in lieu of the brushes used in non-touchless washes.

twitchyzero 01-03-2018 09:24 PM

yep i figured, just read pluj's post wrong

This.

Definitely the best car wash in town. I've tried them all, this one gets the car the most clean. Costs more though.

Does it induce swirls? E46 needs a wash badly - when I get her fixed.

That intersection isn't bad in the afternoons, best time to avoid is morning rush hour and 4:30pm on to 6:30pm (when everyone gets off work). I usually stay late in the office just to avoid that.
