Missing person in Vancouver

My friend's Dad is missing. Keep an eye out if you're near Chinatown/False Creek/East Van.

Vancouver Police are asking for the public’s help in locating missing 83-year-old Bing Law, who was last seen Monday morning on Vancouver’s Eastside.

Bing Law left his home near Main Street and East 4th Avenue February 5th around 10 a.m. and has not returned. His absence is out of character and his family is concerned for his well-being.

Mr. Law is Asian, 5’4″ tall, with a medium build, short grey and black hair, and was last seen wearing a black jacket, grey pants, black running shoes, and a black and grey fedora-style hat.

He has dementia and is missing important medication that he requires daily. Mr. Law speaks Cantonese with very little English.

Anyone who sees Bing Law is asked to call 9-1-1 and stay with him until first responders arrive.

Yeah. Friend's family is relieved of course. I know that when VPD gets these cases, they're taken pretty seriously.

A couple years ago I came home from work to find a elderly confused woman weeding my garden. She said she lived there and was waiting for her family to come home. Called 911 and there were three patrol cars there in a matter of minutes.

if you have an elderly family member that has dementia and wanders, then it's worth your while to get them on some sort of radio frequency transmitting bracelet. an organization i volunteer for supplies, maintains, and searches for people on this program. it's much more effective than using the GPS style ones that some private companies use, because RF ones have longer lasting batteries and don't rely on a gps signal to be active. if you're interested shoot me a PM. it's a non profit company (search and rescue) so the cost is very fair.

is it something that's like a monthly subscription or can be turned on and off? Or do you just purchase the item and it's always monitoring and if there's an issue then you make the call?

The reason i ask is because I've got a young kid and even though I know he's safe at daycare, when they go on field trips my stress levels go through the roof. I almost took a vacation day to do some ninja surveillance for his very first field trip lol.

yep it's approx $400 to get started then $25 per month. when the family member goes missing the family calls 911 to let them know, then 911 tasks it out. usually the subject can be found within an hour or two very reliably.

Is it something that you can purchase for the $400 and then not activate it until I need t and go on and off? basically if I know there's a field trip next month or somethng I'll just have it active for that month
