Koodo offering PM users $40/5gb plan- $150 bill credits

**you must be an active Public Mobile who is on the $120/12gb 90 day they offered in the past

Koodo now offering Public Mobile users to switch to $40/5gb plan which includes

-unlimited Canadawide calling
-unlimited international text/pic
-Voicemail, caller ID
-5gb of Shock free data
-$100 bill credit for switching
-extra $50 bill credit for using my referral link ********************

Must go to Koodo store and give them this code GOKOODO405GBBPO for this $40/5gb plan.

*after Mar.1, referral credit will be $25 instead of $50

You mean your referral code.

If you're gonna pull this shit. At least be honest about it.

If someone wants your referral link, they'll ask you for it. Otherwise thanks for making people aware of the deal. From here people can as you for your link, or ask another friend for theirs if they want.

Not sure why it got edited out but the 5GB code is "GOKOODO405GBBPO" that you'd mention to Koodo or any of their resellers.

Mention code "PM-SIM-0" to the Koodo agent to get the SIM fee waived right at the start.

Just did my port at WOW Mobile Metrotown.

Here is my cost breakdown for the plan with the iPhone 6 on a small tab and trade-in.

50 x 24 = 1200
1200 * 1.12 = 1344
1344 + 84.40 = 1428.4

Total cost of two year term with phone included (pre-credits) = $1428.4

Port-in credit = 100
Two referrals = 100
Prepaid Mastercards = 200
Selling the iPhone = 300

Total value of credits = $700

Total of two year term = $728.40

Total cost per month over two years = $30.35

The amounts I calculated above are on the assumption that I can sell the iPhone 6 for 300.

And I am not sure if the port-in credit and referral credits are put towards your monthly cost before or after tax. I can't remember how Telus did it on my small business plan a few years back, but I know that Freedom Mobile does all of their credits before taxes. If Koodo does it the same way, then it would save an extra $24 over the two years bringing the monthly cost down to $29.35.

I thought that was a personal code

If that's the general code, holy fuck what a stupid code

There's an additional form after you input the code where it checks if the number to be ported is eligible for the promotion, so generic is fine.

The only way is possibly calling retentions, but you have an out-of-market plan so your hands are tied because if you call in, they might take that away from you.

Is it silly still holding on to PM 40/$40 plan ?

I don't use anywhere close to 4 GB monthly (barely pass 2GB each month)
&
I don't need a new phone.

I love prepaid service like PM and I got loyalty...etc rewards
I will never over use.

Recently switched over to Koodo from PM but they didnt have any good offerings on phones so I just decided to keep my current phone. They have a pretty good deal on Pixel 2 XL now that I want to switch to a tab for, will I be allowed to do so?

Edit: Found the answer to my question. Also looks like existing Koodo customers get an additional $50 credit when getting some phones.

Probably until April 1st, is what I saw on the screen at koodo when I made my swap.

Reasoning behind it could be the previous package was too good, some people were paying sub $25/mo for 4gb. And it looks nice on paper if its a post paid customer so they can ding you with overage and what not.

Postpaid customers are worth more than prepaid. And the 12GB/120 was arguably the best non-loophole/retention plan there is.

With limited profitability (amount paid is fixed) and discounts like loyalty/referral PLUS that they need to follow through their original statement that price cannot be increased, (they tried, but it backfired so they backed out) it made sense for Telus (Koodo/PM's parent) to move customer away from plans that had so little to exploit.

Koodo can announce a price increase for all people who switched in 3 months and there isn't anything one can do. Nowhere Koodo guaranteed the offering, it can be a promotional thing.

I'm paying effectively $28 a month for the plan... so I'm just gonna stick to it until PM bites the ground.
