Blaine is cheaper if you are inclined to drive a bit more. Google maps even shows you the prices currently at the stations.

Shell on D Street is $3.16 USD for Regular.

Even with an empty tank, I'm only saving ~$5 if I fill up at PR (instead of doing so locally), so it makes no sense for me to drive all the way down to PR to gas up. And even less reason to do so for heading down to Blaine.

Getting gas at Shell Pt Roberts only worth it if you are picking up parcel.
If you get 8 gallons, they accept Cdn at par for parcel so you save a smidgeon more on that.

$3.16/gal = 0.83 USD/L = ~1.08CAD/L

Conservatively speaking, that's about $0.30 saved per litre. If you need gas, that's $10 savings, easily. Personally, that's enough motivation to head to Blaine for a fill up, and bring back a beer or two because savings can be converted to booze.

I still have dreams about the epic gas war back in the early 2000s. Gas cost 39.9! Ricers were at the peak of popularity too. Good times were had by all.

Well. Looks like I'm switching to 87 from 91 LOL...

So I did the calculation for premium gas (91):

Chevron on D Street, 92 Octane = US $3.45/gal = US $0.911/L = CAD $ 1.17/L (cc forex fee 2.5% = $1.20)
Taking the rate of CAD $1.20 (incl cc forex) x 63L (tank capacity) = CAD $75.60 for Chevron 92

• Mission Chevron: $1.43 x 63L = $90.09 ($0.23/L saved at Blaine = $14.49 in savings)

• RMD Superstore Mobil: $1.54 x 63L = $97.02 ($0.34/L saved at Blaine = $21.42 in savings)

• PC Points saves another $0.07/L

• Total savings with points = $19.77

• N.Van Chevron: $1.70 x 63L = $107.10 ($0.50/L saved at Blaine = $31.50 in savings)

Total savings accounting for fuel used to get to Blaine and back.

If I use roughly 12L/100km (accounting for some heavy footed driving) on a round trip from Shell and Alderbridge to Chevron on D street (78.4KM) that's 9.41L used:

• Mission: 1.43* 9.41 = $13.45

• total savings = $14.49 - $13.45 = $1.04

• Rmd gb: 1.54 * 9.41 = $14.49

• total savings without points = $21.42 - $14.49 = $6.93

• total savings with points = $19.77 - $14.49 - (9.41 * 0.07) = $4.62

• N.Van: 1.70 *9.41 = $16.00

• total savings = $31.50 - $16.00 = $15.50

So it turns out, a nice back road cruise to mission will be as effective at gas savings as Blaine, except, its double the mileage.

buddy and I just went across yesterday to pick up pkgs. It was 2.89 in Bellingham for diesel at Costco, comparing to diesel price from gas stations nearby, the difference is ~33% or ~50ct CAD/L AFTER factoring the currency exchange and everything into.

At 80L per tank, plus 2 6gallon jerry, we were looking at 120L of fuel in total, the saving was $60 vs. fueling in Canada. Not to mention the 2 gallon of milk for U$4.xx (roughly $6cad), which I bought 3 (kids drink milk like water+me making coffee) and that's another ~$10 saving. And I assume ~$10 worth of gas to make the roundtrip.

It's worth mentioning that many things in Costco US are NOT cheaper than Canada. Things like coke, diapers... etc are priced pretty much at par, meaning we in Canada get 30% discount on them. But meat and some pkg food are cheap as fuck. I got the Kirkland vitamin gummy that my kids take. It's 7.99 after instant discount for both US and Canada... but the US it's a package of 2bottles vs. single in Canada!

The way I think about is, every time I cross the border for gas, I basically get groceries for free... :fuckthatshit:
