Do you suppose this is only more grandstanding from our petty neighbour Premier, who will be up against an election next year? Or will it really come to pass?

Might be going slowly cuz the speed limit's only 25mph there (~40kmh).. that said, has anyone ever seen police hand out tickets on that stretch back to the Canadian border lineup?

Let’s cut off access to the Okanagan then. I’d enjoy a summertime trip to K-Town without all the red platers polluting our fresh BC air with immense douchebaggery.

gasoline is not a financially sustainable fuel if it costs more than our primary calcium and vitamin D intake...cow milk

BC is saying that this is better than pipelines?:

https://i.imgur.com/tBsPXItr.jpg

I was raised in BC but now live in Alberta (government job not related to oil). This entire pipeline fiasco and provincial government spat is a joke. BC and Alberta could split from the rest of Canada* and be successful yet they bicker like spoiled little children.

*Take Sask too, their cell plans are kick ass. ;)

I was driving the limit to save gas too :troll:

*meh, i live 15mins from Blaine...this article doesnt' relate to me.

https://www.vancouverisawesome.com/2...in-bellingham/

Here’s the math on why you should (or shouldn’t) drive to Bellingham for gas

Yesterday we shared the NEWS that gas prices broke the $1.50/litre mark in Vancouver, giving us the distinction of having the most expensive gas in all of North America.

Nobody likes to pay more for anything, especially in the housing crunch we’re in right now where the City is TELLING US that they consider $1,750 to be “affordable” rent for a one bedroom apartment.

It’s an age-old tradition for people in the Lower Mainland to travel to Blaine and Bellingham, just across the border, to fill up on “cheap” gas. As long as that’s been going there have been people saying that you’ll burn more gas getting there and back than you’ll end up saving.

That’s not true.

According to GasBuddy.com, the lowest gas price in Bellingham today is $2.71USD/gallon. Let’s call the average $2.80USD to be fair.

That amounts to $3.63 in Canadian currency per gallon, or 96 cents per litre. That’s 54 Canadian cents per litre less than what gas costs in Vancouver.

If you’ve got a 50 litre tank like I have, you’d save $27 Canadian dollars filling it up at a Bellingham pump.

However if your vehicle gets 10l/100km gas mileage it’ll cost you $14.78 Canadian to drive the 154km from downtown Vancouver to the Arco at 1197 Slater Rd in Bellingham, and back. In the end you’ll wind up saving a grand total of $12.22.

As I type this, Google Maps is telling me it would take 1 hour and 9 minutes to drive to that Bellingham Arco. That’s not counting the minimum half hour wait at the border. So let’s say you drove there, fuelled up, then immediately turned around and drove back. Let’s call it three hours.

How much is your time worth? More than $4.07 per hour? If not, head to Bellingham for “cheap” gas.

Or better yet, make a day trip down there. Head to the mall, drive the coastline and check out the antique shops, stop at Trader Joe’s, and as a byproduct of a fun road trip you can stop for gas and get a price break. A straight shot there and back might not be worth it, but an adventure could be.

yray 03-12-2018 08:03 AM

^ heh,

they forgot the jerry cans

SkunkWorks 03-12-2018 08:19 AM

Also a much bigger difference if you're filling with premium 92.

How Alberta could sow gas price Armageddon in Vancouver | The Province

I highly doubt Alberta would do that.. i mean...wtf;....CUT OFF OUR FRICKIN GAS!!!! however, if gas was to hit $2/L.... well then we're F'd.

Cutting off B.C.’s gasoline supply is now a nonpartisan issue in Alberta. Opposition leader Jason Kenney has been threatening it for months. And now, the province’s ruling NDP just made it a key plank of their latest speech from the throne.

Regular gas at 137.9 at Esso in Westminster and Garden City when I walked by at 630.. super long line

westopher 04-09-2018 07:50 PM

Wasting 1/2 hour to save 5 bucks is fucking nuts. I filled up in PR today. Only went down there to pick up a package. Wasn't worth my time, but the company would only ship to an American address.:okay:

twitchyzero 04-09-2018 09:50 PM

PR is 20% more than Bellingham rn...dang

Traum 04-09-2018 10:38 PM

^^ But still 15 - 20% cheaper than Vancouver. :(

Horgan says Alberta legislation to raise gas prices in B.C. ?provocative? | The Province

VICTORIA — Premier John Horgan says he’s concerned and surprised that Alberta’s latest move in an escalating pipeline feud is legislation that could drive up British Columbia’s already sky-high gas prices.

Alberta’s New Democrat government served notice Tuesday of plans to introduce legislation that Premier Rachel Notley has said will give the province the power to reduce oil flows and likely prompt a spike in gas prices in B.C.

Motorists in Metro Vancouver currently pay more than $1.50 a litre for gas.

The pipeline dispute between B.C., Alberta and the federal government heated up last weekend when Kinder Morgan Canada announced it was suspending work on the $7.4-billion Trans Mountain pipeline expansion because of opposition and delays in B.C.

The project, which would triple capacity between Edmonton and Burnaby, B.C., received Ottawa’s approval in 2016, but court challenges and permit delays in B.C. have held up construction.

Syria war: Trump says missiles 'will be coming' - BBC News

US President Donald Trump has tweeted that Russia should "get ready" for missiles to be fired at its ally Syria, in response to an alleged chemical attack near Damascus on Saturday.

"Get ready Russia, because they will be coming, nice and new and 'smart!'" Mr Trump said in his tweet.

i fill up 4 of them plus the car of course.

3 x 20L
1 x 25L

from what i've experienced over the course of about 3yrs, i've been 'taxed' once. they will however look for an opportunity to tax other items you have purchased while you were down there and WILL throw in your fuel purchase to be taxed as well.

BUT if just going down for fuel, they have left me alone and let me go on my way.

Nabatron 04-11-2018 09:35 AM

next time ill bring my jerry cans 2x20L even if they do tax I think it will still be cheaper then stupid gas prices up here.
