But, I think most of those places will not allow you to bring your wash stuff and stay and hold up a spot like that.
Just go when most people aren't going. Wash at night, early morning, etc. It's amazing what they'll let you do, if you're respectful of their business. Case in point:

The owner even came over to say hi.

I usually spray the brush off good while doing the pre rinse

Eh. It's only like five seconds. Better than having grit in there.
Still get the pre rinse and scrub done in first token.

self wash places usually have signs and let you do the bucket system when you go at night(like past 8pm).

what's a good prerinse or degreaser or what ever you want to call it to spray on first to break up the dirt and dust before washing?

harrys car wash is my go to in Surrey. clean. always freaking spotless clean. Tap to pay as well! would recommend it. I go there with bucket and have never been hassled, even when busy.

There are quite a few options for that. You Can use Car Pro Reset, As a intial step before doing a full decontamination.

I watched people use also, some more aggressive Alkaline products. Such as Purple power Boat wash, OR some Washes mixed with APC.

These are for things prior to full decontamination Iron X,Clay,IPA,then Compound/polish.

If you are doing a Maintenance wash, Adams blue shampoo,Chemical Guys honey dew Are a few good ones that Foam up pretty decent in a Foam canon paired with a electric power washer using a 1.1 nozzle spray . These are All PH neutral , So it will not strip any sealants or wax off.
ALso, from a retailer box store product. Mequirs Gold class shampoo is not bad. I have that and use it for wheel bucket or use it for my other cheaper daily driver cars. The lubricity of the product is much better then the other cheap Canadian tire soap.

Got my hoseless kit from AMMO and tried it last weekend.

It made the car look great. The car already had a lot of swirls on it from previous owner so I can't comment on new love marks from the process. It took 3 24x24 micro fibre towels to do the car. I would say less than 30 minutes to do it as well.

Spoiler!
