Best Bun Bo Hue in Lower Mainland

http://seonkyounglongest.com/wp-cont...-Bo-Hue-46.jpg

Hello i’m in search of the best Bun Bo Hue in the lower mainland. My love for spice is endless, and BBH is hands down the best asian noodle dish to me.

Places ive tried BBH:

Cafe Xu Hue : 6.9/10 - was highly recommended by peers but was OK. Wasnt that spicy and there wasnt that much meat. Soup was okay

Hoi An : 7/10 - hit or a miss. In the past it was pretty flavorful and spicy. Soup was super tasty

Pho Viet : 6.5/10 - meat is good. Soup is OK but it is not spicy in the least bit

Pho Lan : 6.8/10 - big portions but soup is meh. And the spicy oil is really meh, but meat is good

Pho Thai Hang 2 : 7/10 - soup very tasty and i was sweating like a fat fuck when i was eating it. Not that much meat, and they add some random veggies in there ive never seen in BBH before (cabbage?)

Show me the way to 10/10 BBH. I guess if its seattle or whatever im down to venture out to try

Best valley Pho evaR!

i personally like the one from cafe xu hue the best but some other delicious ones can be had at song huong and pho cilantro both in east van. pho thai son has a decent one as well with a big portion but I dont think they add pork blood to it

Nvasion 05-17-2018 10:10 PM

Different strokes for different folks. For me, and I'm only commenting on Vancouver only is that Cafe Xue is by far the #1 and everything else is just aight or not good at all.

Pho Au in surrey has good BBH.
I eat my BBH with Pho Noodles. Not the thick white ones

Wouldn't hurt to give it one more go and if you feel the same way then there ain't no going back after that. Fool me once, fool me twice...

Speaking of Viet Noodles, the fish pho at Bun Cha Ca Hoang Yen is fucking bomb but beware, lineups galore.

Had Bun Bo Hue in Hue before, had like four bowls at the highest reviewed places on tripadvisor. Wasn't as solid as the BBH in North America.

Went to LemonGrass on kingsway today.
Tried there BBH with Pho noodles. Quite tasty. Soup was flavorful and spicy. Lots of meats too.

Anyone try the new-ish pho place on 2nd Ave., I think it's just west of Ontario. They have satay soups but also BBH according to their takeout menu.

my top 3 for BBH is

cafe xu hue
pho thai hang
song huong (been awhile since Ive had it here)

honorable mention : thai son

Coincidentally, I'm on a hunt for the 10/10 BBH for the past month and a half, although I have been visiting the same places regularly. Here are the places I've tried.

Pho Tai Son (1st ave) 7/10 - This is where I go regularly for BBH mainly because the quantity is good for $9.

Love For Pho (former Pho Tai Hoa) 6/10 - They give you a large bowl and makes the quantity of the noodles very little. Some days are little, some days they give a lot. They also add blood and lettuce to your BBH. I don't get the lettuce in BBH idea and I don't eat the blood.

Truong Tanh 6/10 - Nothing out of the ordinary, but it's my go to for late night BBH because they're 24/7.

Mui Ngo Gai 4/10 - Very small quantity even when I ordered large.

Gold Train 6/10 - Also my go to late night on weekdays only since weekend is always packed with drunk asses.

Pho 24 Express 3/10 - Small quantity, not even spicy.

Name has Bamboo in it (Crystal Mall plaza outside, facing Willingdon) 3/10 - Found a fly in my salad roll. As for the BBH, same as Pho 24 Express.

You can buy one of those pre-made soup spices they sell at 88 supermarket and buy your own protein, bones and noodles. Easy to made and it's not bad by any stretch. The noodle I tried at the shop here is worse than the homemade from those pre-made soup spices.

Correct me if I'm wrong but to me it seems like your focus seems to be more on quantity vs quality. If I'm wrong, apologies.

Being Chinese and I think a lot of people can relate to this but it drives me fucking crazy when I hear an ederly person a.k.a my dad or otherwise talk about a restaurant and the first thing they say is not if it's taste good or bad but that it's very "di sit" a.k.a bargain or good deal followed up with that the portions are large. Then I just shake my head and ask but is it actually good and not good for the price but actually good. Sigh maybe I'll be like that 20 years from now and my son will look at me like wtf
