40-50% Front Window Tint - Still too much heat?

Hey guys,

I'm considering getting 40 or 50% tint on my front windows, do you think cops will pull me over for that? I had 22% a few years ago which I admit was WAY too dark and was just asking for it.

Is anybody running light tint like this as a daily without any issues?

Not a good idea. Sooner or later you will get busted for it.

I've been running front window tint for many years on multiple cars, and only had one bad experience.
That said, Manic is right. It's only a matter of time before you get some boy scout pulling you over. Typically not a big deal, unless you're already breaking the law. It's a good reason for them to have a word with you.

That said, I had really dark tint on my G8. I would hoon that thing incessantly, and never had an issue. It also had the added benefit people thinking I was a Surrey jack as they pulled up beside me.

50% is too obvious. If your trying to avoid the UV rays then go with 70% which is not noticeable. If its for privacy then, good luck with that and like what other people said, sooner or later you will get caught. The more of a shitty and dangerous driver you are, the more likely you'll get caught sooner with the window tint.

Had my Focus for 4 years with 70% on the front and 50% on the rear.
Daily drove it and never had an issue. Often times I was in North Van and not once was I given a second look.

Car was black so the tint made a noticeable difference in interior temps.

I ran 50% without issue for 3-5 years. Reducing the risk of any skin cancer > a ticket for tint.

I'll be trying out the 70-80% ceramic coatings they got available now. Heard those are pretty good at keeping heat out. At least for the driver and passenger windows.

whether or not, you will get pulled over . I think it really depends on the vehicle you drive. Putting windows, down does not work. Officers, usually ask you to put your windows up so they can check.

Owned a mustang , been ticketed for windows had it on for a few months only.
Corvette , again been giving a ticket as well and was forced to remove it.

Had an accord sedan, never even once given ticket for tint . Even while pulled over for speeding.

All 3 vehicles had 50% tint.

I've been pulled over twice with 50% on 2 different vehicles. On one vehicle, they made a u-turn to catch me. The other, they pulled over mine and another vehicle that was the same model to do a comparison. Not worth it imo. Also had a friend get pulled over and needed to do a VI. The vehicle was bone stock too. The only thing on there was the tint.

Got pulled over in a brand new vehicle that had front tint from the dealer, had less than 100km on the car. My dad has had front ticket on his f150 for close to 10 years now and hasn't had an issue.

I've been running it on my 1500 now for a couple years in YK where it's illegal and haven't had an issue.

I think the biggest factor is the car you drive, followed by how you drive, and finally what kinda of cop is sitting next to you at a light.

Does ceramic tint even help if your car is sitting in the sun?

The youtube videos show that it takes longer for the heat to penetrate, but eventually it gets same temp inside doesn't it?

I had a car with 50% tint on the fronts. Drove it for 10 years and never had an issue. At the time I was averaging 20,000 KM a year.

If it's illegal, it's illegal. If you do it, you're running a risk. Some get lucky and other's don't.
