You clearly didn't watch the game against the U.S. Giroud got a huge gash on his head that game. The only way to hold a bandage in place is to wrap the head like it was today.

Shit like that should just be an instant red card. The weird thing is soccer fans seem to eat that shit up and encourage it, like diving is some sort of art form.

Make no mistake, C7 is a world class actor / diver.

I remember reading / watching one time when he was interviewed, and he defended the diving acts as ways footballers use to draw attention to fouls / inappropriate contacts. His rationale was, with a field so busy and so big, if you don't do something that is at least a little over the top, you can't draw the refs attention when the fouls / cheapshots happen.

In the video clip above, the defender really did bump C7's knee, and strictly speaking, that is probably against the rules. But for him to act out like that is just embarrassing.

The Portuguese played a terrible game today. Frustration probably affected them and the diving intensified.

Might as well hand the ballon d'or to Ronaldo now. Messi looks like a loss puppey in this world cup. It's actually sad.

You know, from watching Portugal's games so far, I am not sure if Portugal has what it takes to go far in the tournament. CR7 is undoubtedly spectacular, and appears to be red hot, but the rest of the term just isn't there. In particular, defensively, they seem to be one big mess. Morocco had so many chances, and it just showed how lacking the Portuguese defence is.

The Golden Boot is usually won by a player in a team that goes far into the elimination round. I am just not sure how far Portugal can go in their current state.

Messi can't carry a shitty Argentina team. Man their goalkeeper sucks.Croatia was definitely the stronger team.

It's unlikely Nigeria will be able to score on Iceland given their compact shape when defending. I think Argentina is pretty much out at this point but can't say I'm surprised. They were a mess in qualification, barely making it through. They need to address their poor defence and find a proper coach that will revamp the team cohesion.

The Golden Boot and Ballon d'or are completely different awards. The former is awarded to the player that scores the most goals in the tournament. The latter is awarded to who FIFA considers as the player of the year. That said, I do agree with you as far as Portugal go. The furthest they'll make it is the semi round

I wasn't referring to the Golden Boot...but anyways Ronaldo is 90% for sure going to win the Golden Boot.

He's at 4 right now and the last three Golden Boot winners scored 6, 5, and 5 goals - you can almost bet Ronaldo will score a couple more at least (he's got at minimum two games left).

This Portugal side reminds me of their Euro 2016 run, absolutely unspectacular and shaky at times with timely goals from Ronaldo. They didn't even win a game in their Euro 2016 group stage. I wouldn't count them out especially with Ronaldo looking beastly and inspiring a ton of confidence in his teammates.
