2018 PNE

The Pacific National Exhibition is just around the corner.

Playland is open now and have been to birthday parties and school outings for a while.

Discuss any new rides or attractions here. Ticket prices, concerts, as well.

There is going to be two free admission days. August 21st and 28th. 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Heroes weekend. Free for all first responders and military - current and retired, plus one quest. August 18-19.

Mr.HappySilp 06-30-2018 06:06 PM

Haven't been to PNE for a long time. Just feel like is the same every year with the same shows, same rides, same food expect price keeps going up.

There are better things to do that's free.

Ch28 06-30-2018 06:09 PM

I think most of us are at the age where we just go to PNE to people watch, eat some food, and drink a few beers.

The fact that we've had a lot of car free days in the summer sort of takes away a lot of the appeal of PNE.

Hondaracer 06-30-2018 06:26 PM

Love the PNE :nyan:

MG1 06-30-2018 06:33 PM

The PNE has evolved so much.

I remember the buildings, the lumbermans show, demolition derby, bingo tents, etc. All gone now.

Every year people say, "It's the same thing every year," but they still end up going - to see and be seen, perhaps?

It kind of reminds me of this song.

Gypsy's, tramps, and thieves
We'd hear it from the people of the town
They'd call us gypsy's, tramps, and thieves
But every night all the men would come around
And lay their money down

I used to go for the thrill of the rides when I was young. Then, it was going there with the girlfriend(s), to show off my skills. Then it became taking the kids for the rides. Then became going to check out the Showmart and Home Show. Now it's going to try and recapture the essence of going to the PNE. Hunky Bills, Jimmy's Burgers, Mini Donuts, etc.

Gotta go at least one day every year............. to lay my money down, so to speak.

As I child I used to contemplate going on the pirate ship ride. Went on it last year for the first time and sat right at the back, I was terrified as shit.

goddamnit............ just those four alone. Chicago. If only Earth Wind and Fire was on the list.

Hondaracer 07-01-2018 07:31 AM

Chicago sucks..

when i think of Chicago i think of 25 or 6 to 4, then you kinda think ok they must have more hits you recognize. Sat in the beer garden for their show last year and i was like WTF..

A) dont recognize 90% of their songs

B) They all sound the same lol

MG1 07-01-2018 07:42 AM

In that case, scratch that.

Probably none of the original members are around, anyway. I'd rather remember them for what they were than what they are now.

Hondaracer 07-01-2018 07:53 AM

I am, and always have been into classic rock and my parents came with us that night who also thought they liked Chicago and we were all like wtf.. lol

Agreed. When i first saw that list a few weeks ago, I was like... whoa...

mikemhg 07-02-2018 12:09 PM

Line up is nuts.

We're buying out tickets to Boyz II Men and 112 today, I HIGHLY recommend checking out Boyz II Men, they put on a fantastic show, and they all still can sing great.

Tempted to grab tickets to the 90's tour as well.

prudz 07-02-2018 12:16 PM

Love going to the fair. Went to PNE last year and will be in a week or so for adult nights. 7pm-midnight. Open liquor, no kids, just adults having fun and the lines move quickly and are pretty damn short. Best ride hands down, that 2 seater ride thats $15 or $20 that spins around going 120km/hr or some jazz. So fun to no hands it and you get to see the entire city/surrounding city and coast. Last year I went on it 5 times in one visit. As an adult, if you enjoy the atmosphere go to adult nights.

Peturbo 07-02-2018 08:06 PM

Got tickets to boyz II men and 112 very early on. looking forward to the PNE this year

Verdasco 07-02-2018 10:48 PM

spending $20 MAX for games this year. Swear to god I bring a hundred bucks and after a couple of games, its all gone :drunk:

and $50-$100 for food

its basically a day to burn money and have fun

(and yes, people watching do exist!)

its weird seeing people from the suburbs or different parts of BC coming in. Everyone's fucking fat it's unbelievable.

winson604 07-03-2018 06:06 AM

If anyone needs 112 tix got a pair for sale lol.

JqC 07-03-2018 04:31 PM

Some of my favourite family photos were of me enjoying the kiddy rides with my parents. I haven't been to the PNE in a few years now.
Now that I have a toddler, I plan to go this year along with the grandparents.

MG1 07-03-2018 05:29 PM

Grandparents, yes. My father loved to go to the PNE with his favourite grandson (number one son of number one son).

Presto 08-13-2018 02:21 PM

The harbinger of back to school is here.
PNE opens this weekend (Aug 18)!

Hondaracer 08-13-2018 04:15 PM

I went on The Beast last month and I had never regret going on a ride as much as I did that one.

Any reason why? That's one of the rides I look forward to :) that and atmospfear and the wooden coaster. Not looking forward to the line ups. Going to the adult nights was the best thing ever. Line ups took minutes to get on a ride. So much nicer without a thousand yelling kids around.

I had one of the pickle corndogs and wow those things are good! Can't wait to crush back a few of them. Looking at their site I'm tempted to try out the deepfried burger.

PNE food

Hondaracer 08-14-2018 09:37 AM

Revelation > all other rides

pastarocket 08-14-2018 10:36 AM

-can't wait for the concerts at the PNE!

-gonna see if I can buy some tickets for reserved seats to see Boyz II Men or other artists from the 90s.

C&C Music Factory. :fullofwin:
