The morale of the story? Have respect for shit |

And on top of that, they went around destroying (or at least endangering) very important ecological landmarks... So they won't be doing that anymore either. Also a comment on social media, and how it encourages dumb people to do even dumber things for attention. I hope none of that makes it seem like I am happy someone died. If it was a guy walking his dog, I would be very sad. With these kids, like I said, it's more like they do it all the time and it is pretty much an extended suicide in order to gain attention from strangers (and maybe make some money, not sure if they had sponsors other than their rich parents). |
YOLO = You Only Live Once.......... live life to the fullest. YODO = You Only Die Once.......... You court death, play Russian Roulette, one day it gonna catch up with you. Nobody is celebrating their deaths. Tragic and somewhat sad, but there are other tragedies like the Humboldt bus crash that saddens me 1001 times more. just my two bits |
Formula drivers are highly trained professionals working in a controlled environment most climbers take calculated risks by using safety equipment, aren't doing it for Internet validation nor are they deliberately destroying ecosystems that take centuries to form meanwhile rooftoppers/illegal base jumpers have killed innocent bystanders walking underneath the guys in question are SAR baits chasing click dollars...not just wasting resources but risking volunteers' lives...acted like gigantic assholes on the international stage and degraded local cultures (see Holocaust photo) certainly doesn't help with their sympathy case i'm not celerating that young lives were wasted and families forever changed...but I doubt i'll lose sleep either Quote:

https://i.imgur.com/Xa983un.jpg To be fair, the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin is overrun by idiots taking smiley selfies and posing. These guys are hardly the only ones that do this. They (and all the others) probably know exactly what this place means but don't give a shit. Other Asian tourists I've seen doing this there probably don't understand the significance of it or give a shit either - I saw a Chinese tourist do a Nazi salute in front of the Berlin Wall FFS. I wanted to smack that idiot so badly. Shit like that gets you arrested in Germany. |
Yea I was gonna say the same thing lots of different people jumping from block to block etc It’s quite the memorial if you understand the circumstances. It’s very unsettling |
Hate to always pick on millennials, but didn’t they do a study fairly recently where a lot of them even knew what the Holocaust was? I’ll try to find it... Here it is: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...=.d332fa76320e |
that's on the education system, and to some degree the parents but i highly doubt any functioning adult who's half away across the globe in a war memorial is 100% clueless/oblivious to its meaning and oppressed Chinese citizens who cannot criticize their own gov't back home has to vent it out somewhere :troll: |
[QUOTE=melloman;8909930]The younger generation finds it more appealing to do insane, risky, dumb things to get likes which will get them revenue. For me personally, I've stopped looking at social media other than for news and current events. Play dumb games, win dumb prizes. Unfortunately this one led to not just the death of one, but to the death of three. /QUOTE] Depends I seen a ton of people on youtube not doing dumb shit and still got a ton of audience. Some actually help/guide you. There are lot's of DIY channels that teach you how to fix shit around your house/cook/building shit etc etc.... |
bored middle class/ lower middle class white kids have always done crazy stuff. How do you think skateboarding, BMX, and motocross where invented. |
While any death is unfortunate, seeing that two fewer people will be causing damage and disrespect to the world seems like a good thing overall. Quote:

To the world as a whole, sure. But your average person from India or China isn't clomping through Yellowstone, Machu Piccu or the salt planes. |

I definitely wouldn't say that skateboarding and BMX is dominated by the white man |
Somewhat surprised to see Manic generalising about race here |

Funny in my BMX "crew" growing up in nanaimo, IIRC we white kids were the minority. We were mostly indian friends, vietnamese, one chinese kid and a FN kid in our group LUL Just an anecdote, but I suppose I could call it a "fact" like you did |
