Laminate Floor Installation

Looking for recommendations for a laminate floor installer. The gf insisted we install it ourselves which meant I had to do it. I've started the project but just don't have the time or patience to complete it.

The underlayment and almost half of the floor planks are already in but I don't feel like I took the time to do it nicely.

Guy on craigslist named Yusef, don't use. Terrible finishing work.

imo you're probably just better off finishing it yourself at this point.

No contactor is going to just finish your work unless you sign a contract saying they arent responsible for it. They will either A) Want to rip up everything and redo it, or B) Charge the full price for the installation like you hadnt done anything yourself.

No contactor is going to want to finish somone elses half completed work, especially the home owners, and then have you call back 3 weeks later when boards are buckling due to bad installation. I'd say save the money, time and headaches and just put a day or 2 aside and finish it up

^^ I completely agree with Hondaracer's comments above.

Having said that, if you still insists on hiring a flooring guy to help you with the installation, you can try giving this guy a call:

Ben Lin
(604) 307-7696

He helped me with my laminate installation at my apartment a couple of years ago, and I was mostly happy with his work. I was only "mostly" happy because he inflicted some light damage on my baseboards (probably from prying) at a couple of places, but I really can't blame him at all. Had we aimed for a full baseboard removal, the job would have taken much longer and became more expensive.

IMO, any contractor might be more willing to take on the job if you go back and rip everything out so that he is starting from scratch. Removal has to be easier than properly laying down the rest of the boards, right?
