Indochino Metrotown

Iím getting married in a year or so and was wondering if anyone has purchased a MTM suit from Indochino at metro or their downtown location recently?

Just wondering if they have improved from the so so reviews from the past. I have an oddly shaped body for OTR suits so itíd have to be MTM or bespoke for the ideal fit but Iím a bit hesitant to shell out the money for a bespoke.

I have 1 suit from them and 3 shirts. Shirts took 3-4 months because they kept getting them wrong. Suit was fine but I've ordered suits before from them so I dont think they needed to do much.

The shirts were a new thing for me so it was all them in terms of measuring.

I heard R&W made suites too.

My MTM from Indochino does not fit like a glove. Not sure I'll be going back.

Not sure what your budget is, but Samuelsohn MTM suits at Harry Rosen are your best bang for buck. You can get a very nice two-piece suit, for all body shapes and sizes for $1295. You can even pick out certain custom details like the fabric, colour, inner liner, buttons, cuffs and a few other details.

An experienced MTM specialist will measure you and make sure it is done right, so it's not just some random schmuck who just started their first day. The process was pretty simple and your fiance can even participate in the process. From the moment your order is taken, it will take no more than 5 or 6 weeks for delivery to store. Once it's at the store, they measure you for the pants, about a week's turnaround time, and done. The best part is they are made in Montreal with Italian fabrics. The quality blows OTR suits out of the water. I would suggest not getting one from Indochino if at all possible.

If you plan on getting any kind of MTM suit, try to show up in any existing suit or shirts you wear, and dress shoes (if at all possible.) This REALLY helps the MTM specialist understand your body type and where he/she can make the correct measurements, and also to suit your personal style/preferences. And if you do not like the process or don't feel good about it, you can always say no and walk away. In the end, only you can decide if an oddly fitting $600 suit is better than a $1300 MTM suit that will last you a good 5 - 7 years+. I am of the opinion that a suit is only as good as it fits. Other details can follow after. After all, it is your wedding. You're going to want to feel good and be comfortable in front of your wife and your friends and family. Good luck and congrats!

I was happy with my experience at the downtown indochino. The suit came and I only needed to get the pants hemmed slightly, jacket and shirts fit fine, and better than my other off the rack suits from the bay etc.

I almost never wear a suit outside of formal events, never for work etc so while I’m typically one to waste money on stuff like this lol, I couldn’t justify spending 1000+

I've gotten two suits from Indochino, one 4 years ago for my wedding and one just last month. For the new one I went into the Downtown store to get measured and the finished product was generally good though most of the work was too long and had to be hemmed or adjusted upwards. With the adjustments done it all fits pretty well for $500 (plus tax) - it's not a bespoke or true MTM but for someone who only wears suits a few times a year it's great.

One tip: Have the manager of the store look over the fit - I found the regular staff generally wanted to talk me and my wife out of things we spotted or they would offer a solution that wasn't optimal. The manager even called out things I didn't notice like how the front collar of my shirt was riding too high. Without the manager calling the shots my suit would not have given me the fit I wanted.

With my first Indochino suit I wasn't thrilled with the fit and quality and wasn't sure I'd try it again but this latest suit has be bought in and I'm sure I'll be buying more from them in the near future (blazers and shirts).

Thanks for the reply guys.

Budget wise I’m looking to spend under 1000 for the suit and shirt which is why indochino is tempting. Bespoke normally costs north 1000? I’ll visit some tailors and see if I could get an estimate on how much it would cost since most of them don’t post prices on their websites. If it’s too much I’ll most likely go indochino. Thanks again.

If you do go OTR, get it tailored by someone experienced. The cost can be fairly minimal and it makes a huge difference. You're better off buying a less expensive suit and having it tailored than going straight OTR imo. Since it's for a wedding make sure you mention that, at least some places will give you their lowest sale price even if it isn't on sale since they know you could just wait until there's a sale and they'll extend it to groomsmen at other locations (if they're from out of town). The only exception where we got the suits for my wedding was Black Friday, so I had them hold everything ahead of time and then I popped by and bought it all at once.

You'll have to be careful using words like bespoke. The moment you say bespoke, you're fully customizing the suit and that can cost easily $2000+ (and that's a conservative number.) What you are looking for is made-to-measure (MTM.)

If you are set on your $1000 budget for the two-piece suit and a shirt, then you will have to go with Indochino. Just remember that the suit should naturally fit you, and the tailor can never "make it fit." Different brands will have a different fit. Not one will be the same. I stand by these principles. Good luck.

Still wearing the suit I got from The Bay in the sales rack. I hardly wear mine expect when going to weddings and other super formal events so I just can't justify paying a few hundred dollars for one. Most likely I will either use the same suit or just rent out for my wedding lol.

My body is pretty slim anyways and most off the rack suit looks ok on me.

$1000 suits are great and even though you can't see into the future I got 2 like 6-7 years ago in my late 20's a Boss and Zegna one and I've gained almost 30lbs since so they just sit in the closet now lol

The Harry Rosen MTM event allows for lifetime alterations for this exact reason, although letting out 30lbs worth of fabric would surely be difficult...
