Fuck this guy with a rusty spoon. I'm glad he just tanked his PM chances

vitaminG 08-24-2018 10:31 AM

i think he just couldnt take the backseat to andrew scheer. i liked berniers ideas on dismantling supply management though. theres no benefit in talking about multiculturalism though, theres nothing to gain by talking about that except maybe some votes from xenophobic quebecers.

in the end they had to get rid of him and he made it easy by dropping out. andrew sheers best chance of winning is by presenting himself as a buttoned down logical conservative who isnt going to do anything crazy. liberals definitely cant compare him to trump

welfare 08-24-2018 11:40 AM

welp. he's got my vote

With the conservatives breaking up.
Trudeau and the liberals can start popping those champagne bottles.

And they do it by sending the whole party to Las Vegas on flying fist class using tax payers dollars.

Rather have them go fishing using military helicopters?

At least the military would get some flight hours that way. And honestly, ya. I don't see much wrong with that. The boys/girls need to do some flying to stay current, you get to do some PR with the military, and I think it looks a lot better than flying down to vegas... Probably even cheaper too.

Military planes should not be used

I think we can find better use for military hardware than personal taxis for politicians.

If you're upset about a bunch of party leaders flying somewhere for whatever, you better never never never think about doing an ATIP on every single government department in existence even at the lowest levels of administrative assistants.

Examples:
- Any flight over 6 hours = mandatory upgrade to FIRST class, this includes ANYONE who flies for work for the government
- Budget approvals are never until last minute, routine travel to Ottawa regularly costs $1500+++ per ticket due to always booking after that last minute budget approval is obtained... and countless numbers of all levels of employees fly to Ottawa sometimes even monthly for their jobs

etc. etc. etc... you guys get your panties in a knot over the Liberal caucas flying... it's a drop in the bucket man, literally could not be more insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

Obviously still early, but i agree with everything he's saying so far.

TBH, I wasn't very confident at all that Scheer could win even with a unified party.
He's just way too...vanilla. Not much of a backbone. wishy washy. Standard politician.
Maxime is right. He doesn't represent conservative values.
Trudeau lite basically.

Don't discount the fact that Trudeau has plenty of time to make even more people dislike him. He is excelling quite well in that regard.

The civic nationalist populist movement is sweeping much of the globe right now if you haven't noticed. Somebody had to run that ticket. Especially against an incumbent like Trudeau.

What's wrong with extra old stock?

We get it bro. Your that guy who will vote for anyone that resembles trump. Too bad us canadians are smarter to fall for that than your american inbred rednecks.

you may want to have a look at the global trend of nationalist populism taking place.
keep thumbing your nose at it while our businesses, firms, and capital flee for greener pastures south of the border.

i guess you think that's the "smart" thing to do.

RRxtar 08-25-2018 09:45 AM

The Conservatives are better positioned without him. They lost votes to the Liberals in the last election that they need to gain back and being closer to centre they are better prepared to win those back. Bernier is a tad nutty. They might lose a couple of far right votes to berniers new party but those should be offset by centre votes taken back from the Liberals which are worth 2 for 1

Marijuana legalization is going to help Trudeau big time. With the cons spiting up it's going to make it easier for the NDP to become the official opposition.

whitev70r 08-25-2018 10:52 AM

Does anyone remember this? How they could even let him run as a candidate for leader of the Conservatives, I'll never know.

https://nationalpost.com/opinion/kel...-conservatives

It’s a problem that’s been evident since he lost his job as foreign affairs minister after leaving secret cabinet documents at the home of his biker girlfriend.

Yea if it is done right and so far it is not. Also there are still lot's of oppose to Marijuana legalization so Trudeau also lost votes as well.

It's all about the jobs. One of the biggest employers in Nanaimo is TillRay a Marijuana grower with over 200 employees. Plus you have all the contractors who worked on the building. I don't think any of them or any of their families are going to vote for the cons.

Ludepower 08-25-2018 11:29 AM

Trudeau won the election cause of marijuana and the majority of canadians accept legalization. Of course they'll be growing pains cause it's never been done before. With the fragmented conservatives gifting Trudeau another 4 years at the helm...the industry will work itself out and the numbers will prove to the world that legalization was the right decision.

unit 08-25-2018 02:06 PM

whoop, i'm all for conservatives splitting their votes. good news to me.
