left turn right of way

Simple question I hope

https://www.google.ca/maps/@49.24969.../data=!3m1!1e3

Scenario:

I'm in the left turn lane at a red light facing northbound on Kensington ave wanting to turn and head up Sprott st. about 3 cars behind the front of the line.

The dedicated left turn light goes on and I turn.

People on the southbound right turn lane on Kenisington ave try to turn right and there's only one lane. I'm turning left and already mid intersection when someone decides to turn right. There's only 1 lane when turning westbound. They slam their brakes. I had a flashing green left turn light while their direction was still a solid red light.
Turns out the person works where I work and they flip the f*ck out saying I cut them off because there's no yield sign for him and if it ever happens again he's not going to stop.

Who has the right of way? Me or him? Is anyone here able to help me find it in the mva?

Hopefully this is a simple clear cut answer.

Thanks

BC Motor Vehicle Act, Section 129 "Red Light." Subsection 3.

(3) Despite subsection (1), and except when a right turn permitted by this subsection is prohibited by a sign at an intersection, the driver of a vehicle facing the red light, and which in obedience to it is stopped as closely as practicable to a marked crosswalk on the near side of the intersection, or if there is no marked crosswalk, as closely as practicable to the intersection, may cause the vehicle to make a right turn, but the driver must yield the right of way to all pedestrians and vehicles lawfully proceeding as directed by the signal at the intersection.
Send him this link. If you have a protected left turn (i.e. left turn signal) you have right of way, as he is facing a red light and he must stop and wait for intersection to be clear before turning.

Hate that turn too, but no one is ever ballsy enough to get hit when I'm turning left.
Worse is if it's the Translink mini buses creeping like they're gonna take the right turn.

If you have an advanced left, then the guy on the opposite side has a red.

So yeah, he has to yield to you.

You had green and he had red. We all learned what those colours mean when we learn to cross the street. They at least went over that in kindergarten

Pretty simple stuff. He had a red so he has to stop and wait for the intersection to clear before advancing. You should video his response when you show him the rules.

Berz out.

Also for the right turner, his right turn lane has a right turn light also. If that's not lit up(only activates when the westbound traffic has a green light) he has to stop till the intersection is clear. In your case he was well in the wrong.

So he thinks that lane is uncontrolled? Yes a red light is a red light and he must yield to all cars and pedestrians before completing his turn.

Guy is a moron. I want to hear what happens too.

Do you guys think it's because you can right turn on a red so most people forget that you actually need to stop first when it's red?

Happens a lot when there's a pedestrian controlled intersection with a stop sign on the side streets, people forget they need to stop before proceeding even if the cross street has a red light.

Not much happened. I just reminded him that him telling me how he'll blow right through and won't stop next time is a form of a threat and how I may not feel safe working in an environment where he's around and I should let the union know that.

A few years ago a co worker got fired for telling a by-law officer on a weekend that he said "I'll see you in the service yard" in a mean tone of voice and it scared her. He was changing a flat tire on his car in front of his house but parked the opposite side of the street so he didn't have to stick out in the road.
Few days later he was fired.

Just threw that in his head because he was a newer employee when that happened.

He hasn't said nothing since.
