I am Jeff Chiang, the CEO of VLCANADA, also the former Managing Director of NCIX. This is my first time on Reddit, if there are any unspoken forum rules I should follow please feel free to teach me.
Where should I start? Ok, here we go.
In the last 14 hours were the toughest times in my life. From nowhere, all my social media accounts, emails, company emails were flooded by many different people from Reddit. Most of the messages are resentful, only a few are friendly reminder that my information is everywhere on Internet. But none of any those messages has asked me, if that Jeff mentioned in PrivacyFly is me. Everyone automatically assume it’s me and they all want me to drop dead.
However, the truth is, I am not the person that article mentioned. Many people jump the conclusion and post my personal information without verify with me at all. All the sudden my peaceful life became a living hell. Originally, I was thinking, it’s not me, so why should I bother to explain to someone I don’t even know on internet. But when my co-workers started to receive emails full of hostile messages, customers want to cancel orders, and vendors want to stop supporting our company, and most of all, all my former co-workers think I am the traitor who sold them out. I am totally heartbroken and depressed!
Last November when NCIX went bankrupt, I am the last man standing try to do what’s best for the 200+ employees who got laid off. This January a few of former NCIX senior management people finally borrow money from their family and relatives to form VLCANADA. We have been working so hard to build the new company and build the new hope for our co-workers. We were hoping one day we can win back all the customers and then we can hire back all the former employees. That’s the vision and hope I have from the day that VLCANADA was established.
Now this hope, this dream, might all become bubble and burst again. All our co-workers' hard effort, investments, devotions are all destroyed in 14 hours because of unverified information.
My personal reputation is nothing but I am really sad and hurt to see my co-workers might not be able to provide the food to their family anymore.
This will be my first but also last personal announcement on this thread. I will make no more comment on this topic because I will be extremely busy dealing with all the news reporters and resentful emails in the next few weeks.
However, I don’t mind if anyone would like to organize a face to face gathering in Richmond BC area. So I can answer any questions and doubts you have about NCIX and VLCANADA. I have nothing to lie. I have no secret to hide. I AM NOT THE JEFF that PRIVACYFLY mentioned in the article.
Much appreciated you took your time to finish reading this. Thanks all.
Well when you start getting international attention and inquiries from news orgs, the RCMP finally act. They've seized the hardware now. And the privacy commissioner is starting an investigation.
Edit: didn't see the RCMP tweet posted above.

Perhaps they were working on it all along? Takes a while to get things going usually.
