Unless you have a lawyer, VPD no show, or you bring hard evidence, chances are no chance of winning. Reason is there is collusion between the judges and VPD, they know each other so well as VPD always in court. There is favoritism on VPD 100% of the time. Before court hearing begins, VPD tries to talk things out in the back beforehand with their "intimation tactics". Loud exhaust - I questioned why their methodology is 30% higher in testing than the qualified technician that did the VI. VPD made me rev to 3600rpm while technician only did 2700rpm. That's a 30% variance, not 10%. VPD said sound doesn't work that way, you don't compound sound with sound. Like WTF? Pretty much if I wanted to fight this allegation they would ding me on the back end indicating my exhaust was aftermarket and that essentially was already illegal since not DOT approved. Widened outlet - I measured stock OEM being 4" and my aftermarket being 4", diameter both same size. It's the same diameter and they said they went to each dealership and measured every car stock size. So now it's become he/she said, VPD will win 100% in these situations > regular civilian. Pretty much I would have had to drive my car and park it right besides a bunch of stock cars at the dealership and get the technician to bring his ass out and measure it on video and sign off on paper as well it's indeed stock is 4". Otherwise without concrete support from legitimate source, video or even picture won't do justice on your own (which I did do a video/picture on my own). So can we not have aftermarket exhaust? As per Cain, it's illegal but you can have one as long as it's not crazy loud. Okay there, makes no fucking sense as that's a contradiction. |
Aftermarket parts are not illegal. But the MVA and inspection manual are incredibly vague so they can be interpreted however an officer likes for his own personal gain and hence the alleged abuse. The officers are not held accountable if they are wrong, and they are allowed to VI a stock vehicle because they are not trained to know the difference. Additionally, they can do this on the same car as many times as they like. Again, most of us realize some cars do not belong on the road. I assume those cars are not what this discussion is about. |
This kind of fits. |

I have just received the 2020 VI statistics from the VPD via an FOI request. The numbers pretty much speak for themselves – before COVID struck hard locally in Vancouver, I dare say we were on track to set off a record VI year. But as a result of COVID, the yearend tally turned out to be ~60% of the 2019 total. Comparatively, the annual totals are as follows: 2018 – 758 VI’s issued 2019 – 1544 VI’s issued 2020 – 932 VI’s issued https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw...-no?authuser=0 Based on how I remember the start of the pandemic, the lockdowns more or less began in mid-March. If you look back at the stats for the first 3 months, you would have noticed that we were seeing some much higher VI numbers during those 3 months in 2020 than in 2019. Again keeping in mind how the COVID lockdowns played out, I remember late March to May being the quietest months where vehicular traffic was at its lightest. People gradually started adjusting to a new normal in June, and traffic gradually increased. The VI figures sort of reflected that as well, although May’s numbers spiked just like it did in 2019, possibly as a result of people starting to bring out their summer cars again, and VPD cracking down on us. Overall, given how much less traffic we saw in 2020 due to the pandemic, I am both surprised and not surprised to see that the 2020 VI figures as high as they are. Stay safe out there because we know Cain, Christensen, and their cronies are still out there looking to catch us, often unnecessarily and unjustly so. Google Sheet link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing * 2018 stats obtained from CTV News article * 2019 and 2020 stats obtained through FOI request with VPD |
Through the Massey tunnel in 2020 it saw an average of 30% less traffic, peaking at 43% IIRC. That shows you just how many people weren’t on the road in spring/summer 2020 |

On the Facebook group, all the guys going to their court dates now are running into crooked ass judges telling them to buy Tesla's or Prius and entering their personal bias into the record of the "trial" rather than judgement based on the law. Such a rigged system. It's going to come back and bite them though, the one guy where the judge told him cars like his are useless and that he himself drives a Prius, that guy owns a Lambo and paid the massive fee to get the transcripts of his case and is taking it to the Supreme Court. |

used Prius are rather affordable :lol not surprised the courts aren't keen on modified cars |

The judge's name is Zahid Makhdoom, google search turned this up. So he had a history of overstepping boundaries. https://www.amazon.ca/British-Columb.../dp/B07MDCHKHN |
Great. A real rationale dude. |
I really feel for the guy in the video above too... but shit... easy pickings for the cop man... so many excuses about the headlight "I was in an accident and JUST taking it to get fixed" and the VIN plate being off cuz he JUST painted the car... we all been there as car enthusiasts, but it makes the whole car sound haphazard to a regular bystander and just sounds like a bunch of excuses (which they are) to the cop, even more reason to write it up (as if those clowns didn't have enough reasons already). |
Yes. Don't give the police any excuse to pull you over. |

@02:18 "your fingers aren't the MVA though" This whole interaction sounds so frustrating |

When they run out of "noisy" cars to ticket maybe they'll move on to Toyota hybrids reversing. Do Prime models make the same sound too? :concentrate: |

They're on a roll today.... Saw them pull a jeep over on main/13th. Officer goes to talk to the driver and the passenger cop immediately sticks his head under the muffler to take a look. On the way home 15 mins later, I see another undercover f150 pull someone over by 41/knight. |
Wow... some guy on the Auto Enthusiast Alliance FB Group got nailed by Cain today... over $1,000 in fines on an EG Civic hatchback The worst and most crooked part is, he already passed a VI taking his Honda to a Honda dealership... Cain issued another VI with a non-compliance ticket (almost $600 on its own) for reasons I asked for clarification on because he took it to Richmond Honda he said, so it should be fine?? Now Cain has written that he must take it to Westcoast Alignment and Frame for the inspection... So VPD is specifically directing vehicles to an independent businesses now, not just dealerships (which was already bad enough)?? Incredible. He should get a full sponsorship on his unmarked. |
Whats scary about him now referring people to private shops is the fact that he has probably been there and made deals with these shops to not pass modified cars at all. People are saying he may be getting paid off by certain shops to have cars sent there for inspections, which i think is a little far fetched... But I definitely wouldnt put it passed him to have deals in place with places like west coast alignment and frame where he has been there and said "im gonna start sending cars to you for inspections, DO NOT PASS MODIFIED CARS" Hes not stupid enough to be doing this for financial gain, but his head definitely seems big enough where he would want to be able to control what can and cant pass through certain shops. |
not fucking shady at all. |
