Surprised to hear that actually. I’ve had positive experiences with all the north shore cops. When I was in that accident last year on upper levels the cop called the tow truck for me and stayed until the car was loaded up. He also offered to drive me back home if I needed it, if the car was going straight to the shop. He also was shooting the shit with me about the car while I waited. Another time I was pulled over by west van PD for a cell phone ticket (at a light I changed the music on my phone) as much as getting the ticket sucked he was nice. He could tell I was visibly worried about the VI situation since I was quick to point out my belts we’re OE 3 points and not harnesses, and was like “don’t worry, even if you had a cage in there I don’t care as long as you’re driving properly” |
mind you the interaction itself was relatively professional, just seemed unnecessary to chase after me like I’m on the most wanted list or out to cause imminent danger |

I cant imagine living around here and thinking Vancouver is a shithole. What's the point of paying $80000000000000000000 to live in the gvrd then? |
I choose to live in Richmond cuz I grew up here and there are definitely parts of Vancouver that are shitty but a shithole? Haha uhm.... it didnt get as pricy as it is or be ranked best city to live in in the world every year (or top 3 anyway) by being a shithole.... I think? |

I think you should give me your Focus RS until you find your peace :) Hate to have you driving in anger! |
think about the exodus of vancouverites that move to the island with enough people, whatever problem you had with vancouver will probably be similar there by the time you move housing, traffic, infrastructure, police etc. but if you put money where your mouth is and walk the talk then i think that's respectable too many people whine for years but never vote, move or try to be part of the solution |
^ My sister fits into this category... whining about Richmond for like 10+ years and saying she's going to go to the island but never has, but still whining to this day lol (not intended to be a comment on 320icar at all) |
I’m slowly working on it. Also @twitchyzero we like the courtenay area. Won’t be in my or my sons lifetime that Courtney/comox/Cumberland is going to become a second Vancouver lol |
I won the lottery and ended up in Vancouver my whole life. It's really all I know, but FWIW, I'm pretty happy and have never considered wanting to move out cause I felt it was better elsewhere. Before the pandemic, I went to Richmond on a regular basis. The only thing is, the traffic in Vancouver sucks. I worked out in Cloverdale the past several months and wow, the traffic and commuting was amazing in comparison. I can actually hit boost in the car. But in the end, I came back to Vancouver cause I found a better job opportunity. The commuting was fun while it lasted... |

I grew up in Ladner, moved to White Rock in 5th grade, moved out of the house in 2018 to Richmond, and will be moving to Vancouver next month. Exact opposite of you haha. Thankfully the area where I'm moving to in Vancouver, is barely in Vancouver, so I'll have an "escape route" if I want to go anywhere in my loud car. |
I left Vancouver for the Island in Feb. I can actually afford a house and have room to own more than two cars! I'm in Nanaimo... just don't live next to the highway, there are too many loud cars here. Someone's got to get on top of that. :) |
Paging Nanaimo RCMP :troll: |
i find east van alright, traffic is tolerable at the right times and the right roads. out of DT or a bridge, ya, sucks ass thru a straw during rush hour...it's very convenient in my eyes...if i want to go to richmond for whatever reason, i'm there in about 30min, i want to go dt, i'm there in under 30min, if i want to go north shore, i'm there about 30min (if there's no accident *sigh*), burnaby is 30min too...anything further east, well...not my problem :lol maybe he's not hating on the city, just the people Kappa :troll: I live in vancouver :okay: contractor i worked with lived in the interior and was looking for a good place to live...looked all over and ended up in courtney, i guess it was affordable and i had a feeling he and his wife didn't like the urban "city life" vancouver had to offer (or the housing prices). had VPD handed out any VI's on stock miatas? The one up above looked like it was lowered on rims |
Reading through some of the posts in here, I thought I was in the Vancouver real estate thread for a second lol Anyways, there’s a member of the automotive alliance fb group who is asking for photos and videos of VPD using the decibel meter incorrectly to give to the OPCC |
I lived in Courtenay/Comox for a while. I found it a little small but good place to raise a family. There was no car scene when I lived there around 2006. I still live in Victoria and yes it is growing and getting more big city problems. Lots of people have sold in Vancouver and moved here. It’s good and bad. More amenities and food options but also more crime and traffic. Luckily VI is still not an issue here despite VPD efforts. |

If I got one of those noise tickets, I'd be printing that twitter thread off and bringing it to court... see your honour... the police officer does not know what he's talking about and is misapplying the laws and admitted it in public on twitter. Thank you. |
