APS-C lens suggestion

Since I'll be doing a bit more video my Nikon D750 just isn't the greatest option. Been looking for a while, narrowed down to A6500 or the A7000 when that comes out.

Only thing is now lens.

As it would be my "travel" camera as well I'm looking at the Sony 18-105mm F4 + Sigma 16mm F1.4 and Sigma 24mm f1.4.

I think this will get me the best "all around" of what I need I may just leave one of the primes but what do you guys think?

^ I looked at the 24-105, kinda pricy for what I need. The 18-105 is significantly cheaper and from most reviews I found, it's a good compromise.

The 2 sigma's are fairly close in range, I generally prefer my fast primes a little wider apart. I'm on FF but use a 35mm and 85mm. I have a 50mm and 150mm as well but hardly use them as they feel redundant

Yea so I have a D750 which is full frame I have a 24-70, 24mm f2.8, 50mm f1.4 and 85mm f1.4. I feel the 24-70 is good enough for most of what I need but I do switch out to the 50mm when needed.

The Sony at F4 would not get me the depth and low light capability so that's why I'm thinking of getting the primes.

I totally get why you want the primes, I have zooms that cover the range of all my primes as well. I'm just saying I would try and spread out the focal lengths more, like a 16mm and a 35mm, or 40mm. 16mm and 24mm are very close in range, I would probably find myself leaving one on the camera and being too lazy to swap for the minimal change

Yea I understand, it's very likely I'm going to pick up the 24mm prime first as I think it gives the best range of what I need. But everyone online just seems to love the 16mm and very little has been said about the 24mm

Alright! I did it! I picked up an A6500 MAN APSC has come a long way. Comparing to the NEX-5 that I had this thing is amazing. Hopefully I can pick up a new lens soon, noise levels at 6400 is quite noticeable already.

their answer to the X-T3 is supposedly coming soon

but yeah hard to beat the a6500 for versatility

it's like a mini a7S 1.5 with double the pixels

can't see myself upgrading the crop body until we go 33.2MP+

So using the A6500 for a bit now and I must say I do like it for video it's amazing.

The only thing is, using my D750 and my 24-70 f2.8 as my primary photo camera and then moving on to the A6500 has been difficult. Even when using the sigma 30mm f1.4 I just don't get the pictures that I once had. There's more noise, it's not as clear, just overall feel a bit let down in the "photo" aspect.

Does anyone else have similar feelings or am I just asking too much from apsc sensor?

Sony shooter here.

There's always a "finesse" when looking at full-frame and crop-frame photos side by side. That gap is negligible at times.

Remember that Nikon went steroids on the Sony sensor that they use, and it's going to resolve or render photos differently.

Lenses is another big factor. The Sigma 1.4 you have mentioned is a tack-sharp lens, and it doesn't render bokeh quite the same way as Zeiss or Sony GM lenses.

The Zony (sony-zeiss) 24mm f/1.8 is a good lens to try out. It renders very nicely, and amazing in general.

Sell all of it and get a Sony FF

Best of both worlds for both photo and video

Surely all of the gear you've listed could easily pay for a second gen sony A7 series
