Honestly I have no idea. Could be dead. Quite possibly is.
Maybe salman ordered it. Maybe it was a botched interrogation.
Maybe the Turkish government set it up. They aren't exactly the bastion for human rights themselves.
Everything I've seen or heard so far is uncorroborated.
And unfortunately, considering that these two countries are leading a joint investigation, I doubt the whole truth will ever be known.

I remember when I first heard of this story on the radio, he was there for "routine paperwork".

CivicBlues 10-18-2018 10:12 AM

Marriage License. He wanted to marry his Turkish Fiance, who was waiting outside.

Fucking despicable tragedy.

Manic! 10-18-2018 10:28 AM

He was doing paper work so he could finalize his divorce.

whitev70r 10-18-2018 07:35 PM

Dude needed to go to the Ecuador Embassy in Turkey, not the Saudi Embassy!

SkinnyPupp 10-19-2018 04:49 PM

Saudia Arabia admitted to killing him. Their story is that a fight broke out LUL

Infiniti 10-19-2018 05:22 PM

The next explanation everyone is waiting for is what they did with the body.

SkinnyPupp 10-19-2018 05:32 PM

I like it when people are skeptical of events. But in this case, you have to wonder WHY people were SO skeptical. Like it's Saudi Fucking Arabia. The people running the country are literally evil. :fulloffuck:

During the fight, he fell on a chain saw over and over again and ended up in pieces.

Yes of course. But Turkey is pretty much on par. So it's hard to believe anything really.
Would seem fairly certain they struck a deal. That audio recording will probably get "misplaced".

Probably say they dumped the body in the Mediterranean or something.

welfare 10-19-2018 06:26 PM

there have probably been at least a dozen other Islamists murdered by this government since.
This probably only made headlines because he wrote for the Washington post. And because Turkey had leverage.

He was also living in america and what's an islamists?

Mr.Money 10-19-2018 08:59 PM

how strong is Saudia Arabia's army if "we" ever went to war with them?

Adorkami 10-19-2018 10:13 PM

Without the US Saudi Arabia would get destroyed by Iran. They have the money but not the people. Nobody will go to war with them, maybe a couple of sanctions from the West to appease people but they don't want to lose an ally regardless of the dumb stuff they do.

If the US pulls out, you can bet Russia or China jumps in the fill the void.

This is a guarantee.

To align with Saudi?
But Russia has been allied with Iran forever.

I highly doubt the US will break ties with the saudis. Not this administration. Trump is clearly favorable to Israel, unlike the last administration. And Israel and Saudi are developing a very close relationship.

So if Turkish officials have this audio recording, and the latest explanation from the Saudi government is that he died in a fight (which no one believes), why isn't the audio being used to refute this claim?

What have the suspects said they did with the body? Where did they say they disposed of it?

Because it's an on going investigation. Whats so hard to understand?

Adorkami 10-20-2018 11:21 PM

I don't understand how they thought taking two weeks to change their story from he left shortly after to he was in a fist fight that went bad was a good idea. Especially if they chopped up his body to get rid of the evidence, Trump was giving them a better story to go with. Should of just blamed some people acted without their support and they had no idea what happened, at least if the possible audio doesn't prove a direct link to MBS they would have some form of deniability.

whitev70r 10-21-2018 06:45 AM

I don't understand all the attention to this one particular case, I think this happens to vocal dissidents from dictatorship countries regularly ... like China.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if sh*t like this happen hush hush in the US.

welfare 10-21-2018 09:07 AM

Same reasons the media sensationalize every story that they "care about".
To beat on trump. And ratings.

He was living in America and working for an American company. Just imagine if the Chinese embassy in Vancouver invited some of the fa long gong protesters into there office and chopped them up.

Saudi Arabia said 18 Saudis were arrested and that several top intelligence officials were fired over the killing, but critics alleged that the punishment was designed to absolve the crown prince, the kingdom's heir-apparent, of any responsibility.
That moment your boss asks you to do something shady and then he has you thrown under the bus for it
