Need to trade my truck for a car

Maybe a 2018 Audi RS3 or BMW M2. Something in the 60k-67k range. Something more practical for the city life. Looking for suggestions.

Best bang for the buck gotta go to Civic Type R. Fun as hell and super snappy all around. I drove a friend's CTR the other day and as soon as I went into a corner hard, I couldn't stop smiling.

Yes, it's not Audi or Bimmer, but TBH, RS3/M2 doesn't really have any "luxury" to enjoy except the brand.

Are you looking for something auto or manual? How practical do you need it?

Civic Type R is a great daily if you have one car to do it all. Lacks in terms of features like parking sensors and adaptive cruise, auto emergency braking, blind spot monitoring. But has amazing cabin space and comfort.

I had a S3 but if your budget allows, RS3 is great. Shitty back seats but sounds great, equipped well at the right spec. If practicality isn't a priority then M2.

Good N55 M2s can be had for low to mid 50s. I'd definitely look into that.

+1 for the CTR but obviously I'm biased. I always had in mind to buy a cheap beater, but after dailying my R for 3 months I'm amazed at how practical and mild-mannered it can be for daily use but can turn into a serious driving machine the second you go higher in the rev range and tackle some twisties. I'm 6'2 and can comfortably sit behind myself in the back seat. Needless to say there's plenty of room in the trunk as well.

Golf R would be my second choice as it has AWD and more "mature" styling. Been a Honda fanboy since I was 9 but I must agree the Type R styling, both inside and out, is a bit much. I can see why a lot of people aren't thrilled with it. Plus the Golf R is available as a DSG if you don't want to row your own gears. Also there is more headroom in the back and a larger trunk space than the S3. Golf R pricing is not too far from the Type R....

Personally I don't know why anyone would get the S3 especially since the cost difference is almost $10k once you start getting into options. Maybe if the "prestige" of a badge is important to you but that's about it. For a car with less interior room and the same engine as the Golf R. My neighbor has an S3. It's much smaller than my CTR. If you want a car to regularly use the back seat I would not recommend it. Unless you and everyone you know is comfortably under 5'10...

If you're looking for practicality for city life Golf R would be my bet. It's more comfortable and it's still AWD. The type-R is great but like Swfk said it's missing some things that makes it feel just a bit left out.

Just buy 3 Corolla’s

1 Corolla ce - beater
1 Corolla s w/ 6speed - sports car
1 Corolla xle - luxury car

On a serious note - sti/Wrx would be 90% of that rs3 and significantly cheaper.

Since you are coming from a truck, look into the Subaru Crosstrek. Good for the city and also if you want to go into the trails it can handle that as well. They come with pretty good ground clearance from the factory.

G70 Sport and save a little money. You also won't have Euro reliability issues.

i had a truck, and now a new CTR.
i miss my truck alot...

the CTR is practical, yet fragile. i use it as a family car. cant get a hitch for bikes because of the center exhaust. need to get a roof rack... my wife is not a big fan of RACE brakes, so i had to swap those out quickly (screeeeeeech when stopping) .. other than that. great car lol

F-150s are practical for city life, no? It's not like you have a 1 ton dually long box. Sounds like you're just looking for a reason to buy a fun car :P

Unless you can’t park, a newer half ton pickup is about as practical as it gets. The interior of the new F150’s are roomier than most SUV’s and you’ve got the whole bed for hauling anything you need from ikea purchases to yards of dirt..

Speaking of practicality of switching from a pickup to a small sports coupe?

^ depends how often you actually need the bed though. Personally I'd rather rent a UHaul pickup for $20 and not give a shit about banging it up a little the few times I need a truck bed for something.

Great input, I am kinda looking for a reason to get in to a fun car :P CTR is a nice car, but I need something with technology stuff like adaptive cruise control. My F-150 can definitely get around in the city, but a few times I had to turn around in tight places because I realized i couldn’t fit in the underground parking.
