nearly got totaled today

I was at hastings and glimore this morning around 8am, in the middle lane, at the red light. Lots of cars in front of me all jammed up so I thought I should get to the right lane since there's barely any cars there (I had my coworker in the car so we can use HOV). This white 2018 mustang was at the red light with us in the right HOV lane (no passenger ofcourse), so I thought about passing him on green, easily done in my F32 if I chose to. Then I thought, its raining hard, I'll just save gas and be safe. So i let the stang launch and got behind him, he picks up speed, but because there's full traffic jam in the left and middle lane, he can't see cars turning left from the opposite side. The stang T-bones the car turning left HARD, every one hard break. This was at hastings and ingleton. First thing I thought was, if I cut that mustang off, my car would be totaled right now... I feel lucky AF today.

In all fairness, the stang wasn't at fault, he was going straight, tho speeding, the guy turning left is at fault.

Expresso 10-31-2018 08:24 AM

Could have been avoided though with some defensive awareness.

Definitely, I been driving for 22 years, and I've seen this happen quite a few times, if there are cars on the left lane blocking your view at the intersection, people will walk, cyclists will cross, cars will turn left, if you can't see, assume something is coming.

teggy604 10-31-2018 08:31 AM

Still to this day people don't learn to don't turn left blindly unless you clear the intersection. Either inch out little at a time or stick your head out if that is what it takes. For the stang driver, if he drive defensive, he could have recognized there is traffic in the left and middle lane and proceed with caution when coming to an intersection, not just blast through the solid green even tho you have the right away.

Too many accidents today. It took longer than usual to get around Vancouver.

Count your blessings, hug your family and pets, stay safe and enjoy your Halloween everyone!

Meh, HOV cheaters get no sympathy from me. If he wasn't cheating he wouldn't of been in an accident.

lol, what??

Your car only holds 10 mins of footage? lol, upgrade to a bigger microSD card.

lol, I don't use anything less than 128gb. My biggest fear is something happening when I'm parked and by the time I come back (or when I notice a few days later), the footage has already been overwritten..

lol, bunch of 12 year olds skipping school being forum warriors. I do what I want, I set it up to have 10 min cycles and I like it that way, 64MB, 512MB ? Sure, I'm poor, I only drive a new BMW that I fully paid for myself.

This thread going off course...

...like a Mustang :troll:

UnknownJinX 10-31-2018 03:03 PM

Ecoboost "wild donkeys"(as most Chinese car people call them, LOL), or GT?

I wouldn't launch in the rain with a Mustang anyway. It's easy as it already is to have it plow through a crowd on dry roads, let alone in the rain.

My torqueless rotary can still slip tires in drift lube in 1st gear.

I couldn't see if it was ecoboost or GT, didn't pay attention to the back. It was dark still and raining, but the car looked brand new. The driver tho... he was asian, spiky short hair and young looking.

Traffic accidents? More like traffic avoidables.

just 'cause you have it set to 10min intervals doesn't mean it only stores 10min in total... with the size of common MicroSD cards now, you should be able to hold hours of clips...

that's what they were saying.... i don't know where this keyboard warrior shit came from.. and no one cares if you paid cash for the car or sold your mother's soul..
