Apple Pay is super primitive vs AliPay

People actually send over $100K+ for no fees with this versus wiring.

yray 11-05-2018 10:17 AM

because it's a pain in the ass in china to transfer money via garbage bags or an actual bank

and fucking rmb is dirty as fuck (physically lol)

Also china blocked out visa/mastercard so alipay/wechat pay filled the niche naturally.

It makes sense for this large merchant in Richmond to adopt Alipay. With mainland tourists/residents, those platforms are engrained in their day-to-day transaction.

I wonder how much they are charging the merchant (here in canada) per transaction though? It seems like Alipay is subcontracting their service to local IoT providers.

Yeah. Most people just don't realize Chinese tech infrastructure is lightyears ahead of the rest of the world include North America.

It's not so much the case.

AliPay/WeChat Pay are both debit solutions. The credit system in China is still in its infancy comparing to what we have over here.

And if one starts to study how credit system is set up to be, you'd see that the one in "primitive" is actually AliPay, as it's just + and - from accounts to accounts.

yeahhh i'll gladly pay $50 to send that much money so my funds and sensitive info stay inside Canada

I'm not gonna transfer 100k without due dilligence if I don't know how deeply integrated WeChat and Alipay is with the central government in China

it would be nice if we can develop something similar, but that alone is good enough of a reason to keep them out

My dad had a visa in China issue by the bank (ppl without Chinese ID card can't apply for credit card and he got his from hook ups)

Just use my wechat to pay for my meals and bought something from the supermarket. Haven't ask the store to help me out money in my account though. Next I want to try to use the China version of uber.

J____ 11-06-2018 08:58 PM

no one use Credit cards here anymore (china) pretty much just bring your phone and you can pay for everything and do everything from it. I only need to bring cash for the remaining few parking lots that only accept cash.

Mr.HappySilp 11-07-2018 02:11 AM

Just use my wechat to buy more GB for my sim card and pay for shipping my friend some stuff. My parents on the other hand have no money in their we chat and still use cash. Some store don't accept cash lol so they aren't too happy. Just one of things China does that makes it hard for tourist to enjoy their stay.

I ship within China so it was really cheap like 35rmb for a a big box like over 60 bottle of usana stuff. But you need a Chinese ID and a phone number otherwise you can't ship.

i thought u were shipping back to canada

Mr.HappySilp 11-08-2018 01:54 PM

Don't need to ship to Canada my luggage is like 80% empty. Already bought a ton of stuff online since it's China single day discount soon

donk. 11-08-2018 03:37 PM

why use wechat when you can pay in crypto

Mr.HappySilp 11-08-2018 04:54 PM

Crypto is ban in China. Is worst than we chat pay coz the government have no way to track where money is going.

ae101 11-09-2018 01:12 AM

Also crypto has a few problems (1st time that pop up was bad news on my search engine lol)
