ron is a European measurement. In North America we use PON. 98 ron = 93 pon. In BC you are not going to find 93 octane.

at first i was like "wtf is PON?" (posted octane number for those who are curious)
quick search and found it was an alternate name for AKI (anti-knock index) which is how it's labeled on our pumps.

had me confused for a second lol.

Does Chevron even sell 94 anymore? I recall reading somewhere on the forum a while back that they would be discontinuing it. I hope I am wrong.

Chevron does have 94, but as lots of people who tune have noted it’s unreliable at best

Even stock on a 1JZ-GTE that "recommends" RON98 gets less acceleration ping on Shell 91 than on Chevron 94. I think there has been some discussion that 94 here is a bit watered down?

Yep, they still have it. Just got a tank a couple of weeks ago.

I use Shell 91 and Chevron 94 interchangeably. Not much of a difference, except that 94 costs like $1 more per tank and it's kinda weird that Shell 91 gas gives me the "rotten egg" exhaust smell while Chevron 94 doesn't.

Then again, my car is NA and it only needs 91 AKI and above from the factory.

I think it’s still vehicle dependent. My old tunes vehicle consistently ran well on chev 94 or 91, but would always run like garbage and pull timing on shell 91 vpower.

My local tuner here says Chevron 94 is still the best we can get, unless you want to head down to the states for 92.

From what I've heard from my mechanic and his experience he told me not to use 94 or get a tune for 94. Reason is that basically no one uses it and the fuel is not fresh +have lots of sediments. His personal car has had failed fuel pumps due to exclusively being on 94 and sediment in his gas tank. So I just go down to fill up with 92

One thing I have heard, but not confirmed, is that Chevron gas stations here have 2 tanks: E10 87 and E0 94. 89 and 91 are just mixed on demand.

Makes sense as having 4 different tanks would have higher cost than 2 tanks.

So if enough people use 91, the 94 will still get used up regularly.

I'm tuned for US 92 Octane, was really low on gas today, put in $10 of Chevron 94 to get to the border, and boy you could feel how slow the car felt after that. Throttle Response was horrible, but overall in general, I get better fuel economy and power on Stock ECU with US 92 than Canadian gas
