I just remembered I saw this on Friday at the Garden City Chevron. Some dumbass in a Forester tried to drive off with the fuel hose still in L O L

Every time I pump gas, I use the gas cap to pump the gas instead of holding the handle.. Some times you get the weirdest looks from people and then they look at their nozzle wondering how they can automatically pump gas.. Its fun to watch..

Why don't you hold the handle?

Interesting. Seems like a clever hack, but I also read up the dangers of potentially starting a spark fire or having over spill if the handle isn't released after the initial stop.

I can't even do it if I wanted to try... capless fuel system. lol

I use my wallet in the handle. Then I moved to PoCo and fill at Costco where they don’t file off the detents for the handle lock.

As for why don’t you hold the handle? Many reasons. Check oil, master the art of
Zero residual water when washing windshield. Attempt starting fire with cellphone at the pump.

I'm sure they've done their homework given how many cars have interior gas door releases, people with underground parking with key fob access only and people with sensitive car alarms. Might be a good service for dealers, but there a lot of reasons why this wouldn't work for a good number of people.

Drove by burrard and 4th. The esso is gone now. Sucks. Wouldn't be surprised if the petrol can and chevron on burrard goes as well. I think there is literally no more west end gas stations.

I've gone to countries where they have their cars running while getting gas pumped. Mainly because it's full service and the lot attendants are properly trained. The public has way more regulations cause they aren't qualified, dont understand the risks or how to handle them.

I do that also, I use the time to check around the vehicle, tires and under the hood.
