Just catching up on the last few pages. I think we need to draw a line between racism and xenophobia. I think xenophobia is a much better description of what happens in Canadian society.

That doesn’t mean there isn’t racism as well ( because there is )but for the most part I think it’s culture not skin colour.
It’s really the story of human history:
The other people were stronger and took our shit ( land , cattle , women etc ) .

If it's all PoE you shouldn't have to rewire anything. I've got an older PoE system but I keep it offline, I don't see a benefit and I don't want to have to worry about it being compromised. My inlaws have a wireless system and it seems pretty flakey because there's basically no way to troubleshoot anything besides turning things off and back on again lol.

Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne sent letters to his fellow cabinet members Monday asking them to come up with "ambitious savings proposals" to get a handle on public sector spending, according to a senior government official.

Champagne will lead what's being called a "comprehensive expenditure review," with the goal of spending less on the day-to-day running of the federal government. This would allow Ottawa to invest more in initiatives that will build "a strong, united Canadian economy," according to one of the letters.

The wording of the letter was confirmed to CBC News by Champagne's director of communications.

As part of the drive to find savings, the letter tells ministers to assess whether existing programs within their departments are meeting their objectives, are "core to the federal mandate" and not duplicative of something already being done by other levels of government.

That echoes what Prime Minister Mark Carney promised in the last federal election campaign when he said a government led by him will "spend less, so Canada can invest more" by reining in the growth of federal operational spending while also funnelling money into other priorities.

According to government data, the number of federal employees (including those working in "core public administration" and separate agencies) grew from 257,034 in 2015 to 357,965 this year — a 40 per cent increase. Audrey Milette, Champagne's director of communications, confirmed ministers are being asked to reduce program spending by 7.5 per cent in the fiscal year that begins in April, followed by 10 per cent the year after and 15 per cent in 2028-29. I've been waiting for this ball to drop for a while as the budget numbers look pretty bad from a deficit standpoint if we don't cut staffing/programs. Carney's making some pretty bold long term bets that are really expensive and he's betting the house on them providing the ROI that Canada needs but if he can't shrink the public service the deficit is going to look awfully messy for the next 3-6 years.

It mentions in the article how Alberta is missing the mark but in my experience most people I know with kids there are paying $10/day or very close to it, and it’s a pretty big sample size.
Here it’s not even fucking close. I think I pay about $80/day.

My buddy in Toronto has 2 kids under 8

He was paying like $2600 a month or something absolutely insane. It’s gotten better but I believe it’s still over $1500

I got 2 M3s and a daycare I’m all good.
It’s a pretty bougie daycare, open 7-6pm, and meals are included, so I don’t expect it to be the cheapest, but fuck even if it was like $50 a day I’d feel decent about it. Obviously totally not a reasonable amount of money.
