Perfect!... I can probably create the starting low point 10 feet away from the fireplace.

Mid week I will start this and see how it goes.

A professional setup.

and so will the fan or pump you're thinking of using

CharlesInCharge 12-01-2018 11:46 PM

Electric heat is expensive compared to a 12volt pump that I may not even need to run.

You should also start a YouTube channel to document all your inventions.

For sure... I specially want to record making a DIY CNC machine.

I have this feeling Joe Rogan will be talking about you on his podcast one day EleGiggle

CharlesInCharge 12-02-2018 12:37 AM

I think to become viral on the internet Im going to have to pull off making a beautiful car design.

SkinnyPupp 12-02-2018 01:13 AM

Nah, keep using random junk you find laying around. It has its own appeal

bobbinka 12-02-2018 01:29 AM

you could do the same thing with your van if you hook up the exhaust to the inside

CharlesInCharge 12-02-2018 01:33 AM

You could probably wrap copper pipes around a hot exhaust but even the minute chance of a puncture and carbon monoxide death is not worth the risk.

yray 12-02-2018 10:22 AM

just use a transmission cooler with water, natural convection should move the water right :troll:

hate to be a buzz killington, but is this exercise strictly a cost concern, or is sustainability a factor? in BC iirc our electricity is 99% clean

just saiyan

I’m unsure if you are married, but if you are, your wife is the most patient woman in the entire world lol

Boostslut 12-02-2018 02:24 PM

Seems you are giving Horacio Pagani a run for his money.

I actually need something for the water to dump into and release the heat under my mattress in the bedroom... I wonder if I can use something dirt cheap like a step ladder to drill and fill with water (although I want to stay away from aluminum if it fumes).

Purely a cost saving exercise.

I live with my mom :)

asian_XL 12-02-2018 06:42 PM

I used to live in an apartment with fireplace turned on 24/7, with only the bedroom window open slightly a little bit + bathroom fan turns on, warm air will be sucked into the bedroom without getting killed by poison gas.

Other solution. get another fireplace in your bedroom? lol

CharlesInCharge 12-02-2018 07:42 PM

With thanks to corollagtSr5's idea... having radiant heating under my mattress and making a sheet fort over my bed, it might be as hot as a sauna. Im thinking of using cotton sheets to insulate the plastic hoses.

Gnomes 12-02-2018 07:55 PM

You might want to unplug that pesky carbon monoxide detector if you have one. That think might go off and interfere with your project

GLOW 12-02-2018 08:28 PM

CiC please one day be this guy and do a project like this

Why is your bedroom cold in the first place? Get some proper airflow through your unit.

B!tch 12-02-2018 09:11 PM

So many questions and even more concerns....

Is your mother mobile and able to leave the condo on her on?

If she were to smell smoke would she leave?

If she were to feel light headed and dizzy would she go outside for fresh air?

corollagtSr5 12-03-2018 12:09 AM

A y pipe exhaust on the chimney with a thermostat that controls the direction of heat flow. One side is straight exhaust while the other side is your heat exchanger exhaust. When your thermostat is reading low temps it rotate the flap in the y pipe directing the heat, when it hits desired temp the flap rotates back to regular exhaust.

Your van is so small you can use small wood burning stove inside and it'll make it toasty inside.

Hehe 12-03-2018 09:15 AM

This thread is golden on so many levels. :fuckthatshit:

I'd play... you need to check the air pressure flow of your place.

Assuming you can somehow create a positive pressure in the living, and a negative pressure in the bedroom, the hot air would flow straight to it without any pipe or shit.

I don't know if this is adequate for you.. Its for low income housing.
