Shaw is doubling your internet speed by 2 for free.

As of today if you are using Shaw 150. You are now getting 300. And if you are on the 300 plan you now get 600. Uplug your modem and the update should take effect. However I still haven't got mine yet.

Will be interesting to how the speeds are.

Does anyone know if this is only for residential? Or does it affect business interest as well. I looked online and couldn't find a reference.

Mr.HappySilp 12-03-2018 12:23 PM

Still doesn't beat free 1GB service.

Before resetting my modem, and after resetting my modem: *edit* I should add I was on 150.

ilovebacon 12-03-2018 02:01 PM

Shaw will never be able to support symmetrical speeds just due to coax. However pushing 600 on it is pretty impressive, even if you're only getting 3/4 of the download.

imo upload isnt really that critical for the most part anyways unless your doing specific things that require upload speeds

SkinnyPupp 12-03-2018 02:31 PM

All that download speed, but it's still capped isn't it? FailFish

Nope not capped with shaw.

RickyTan3 12-03-2018 03:57 PM

We free 600!!

Honestly I did not feel a difference going from 150 to 300 and probably wont feel any difference going to 600.

Bender Unit 12-03-2018 05:42 PM

I just upgraded from 150 -> 300 last Friday.
I didn't feel huge difference either.

Well, I don't have the lastest tech...etc.
Laptops/iProducts are couple years old.
Just chatted with Shaw Online.

Most if not all my devices are max at 400Mbps

gurdeep007 12-03-2018 06:19 PM

I am only getting 86.8 download speed... was on Shaw 150 and assume I got upgraded. Unplugged the shaw wireless router a d plugged back in 30 sec later.

Novus 1Gb service

Hondaracer 12-03-2018 06:56 PM

99% of the population doesn’t need more than 100, especially on fiber

Ehhhh..YouTube alone can eat 18-24

The problem is when you have a house full of kids and devices that are constantly connected, whether they are being used or not

pushing 600 through coax is not impressive at all. go look up docsis 3.1 technology, the world doesnt just revolve fiber technology only u know. with docsis 3.1 deployment, the coax cable can still be used in many years to come.

Hondaracer 12-03-2018 10:02 PM

Interesting, thanks for the info watched a few videos on it.

I’d say going forward the bottle neck will then be in bad/old coax and bad connectors. However, easy enough to fix though

blkgsr 12-04-2018 06:46 AM

fsy82 12-04-2018 08:22 AM
