This happened to my buddy last year. Guy blatantly stole his spot, confronted the guy and he didn't care.

As retaliation, my buddy let the air out of his front tire, completely.

I thought that was genius. no real damage, but a total inconvenience for that guy.

You'd probably be charged with mischief or vandalism. I'd much rather someone approach me in person and either allow me to apologize or to explain myself. Why resort to some cowardly bullshit, be a man an confront the problem.

What if you were confronted and you acknowledged you stole the spot because you didn't realize someone was already waiting, and you didn't care and you didn't give up the spot?

Because that's exactly what happened. My buddy confronted the guy, he said too bad so sad. If you were my buddy, what would you do at that point? IF he was younger he would have started a fight, but he's older now and knew a fight would not be appropriate. So he did what he thought was just.
