ummm okay. I work for the ports, I deal with steamship lines every day and ill tell you the cans are trash. Especially the ones they deemed as unfit for service which these guys are picking up and "recycling". Adding a new coat of paint to seawater weakened and damaged metals isn't a good idea for any habitat. A new can? sure, why not. But not a recycled one. Another thing to consider is what was previously transported in these cans. We got animal hides, asbestos, chemicals, etc. Unless these guys have everything industrially cleaned and sanitized by the proper authorities, i wouldn't touch them.
We converted a few cans into makeshift storage facilities/hiding shelters for longshoremen and they are blistering hot in the summer and freezing cold in the winter. We added insulation but it still isn't enough.
Plus you know a used 20 foot can is like what? 200 bucks? these guys are making a lot of money adding a fresh coat of paint to pieces of shits.

$200? I see them go for $2000 or more used.

Yeah, that's what he told me according to whoever he bought them from. He's 6 acres of bushy property to hide them so it was no big deal to him. He uses them to store his ATV's, dirt bikes and other toys so didn't really care what condition they were in.

To do it "right" is still a substantial amount of work.
If I was a welder/fabricator I would consider it.
