Body shop recommendation in Vancouver/North Van?

Wifes car just got in by some guy driving too fast in the "blizzard" side swiped her car rear panel and bumper.. need to get it in and fixed asap..

any recommendations for a body shop in Vancouver or North Van? Do people just typically use whoever ICBC recommends?

Have had good experiences with Miami Autobody on Boundary/1st.

I use Richmond Autobody in North Van because they're close to work. Great guys. I've been rear ended and hit in parking lots so many times that they know me well... lol

I used AK Autoworks at the recommendation of folks here earlier this year and was happy with the work. Good colour matching, the work was very complete, and there was good communication. It's right by Boundary/1st.

Give Peter a call at A Jetway Autobody on main st and 2nd. Say Kevin sent you

Eff-1 02-11-2019 10:47 AM

I'm in the same boat! Need a body shop reco. North Shore or Vancouver ideally.

Do they do ICBC claims? I went to them a few years back for private work and they were the cheapest by far for decent quality

I second A Jetway. Good for ICBC and great for Cash deal rates.

We ended up taking it to KP’s body shop on venebles in east Van. The reviews online were pretty amazing like 4.9/5 stars with over 150 reviews and my wife said it was a fantastic experience with great people all around so far so we will see how it turns out

Yes they do claims as well

I have had great experiences with Pender autobody in Vancouver.
Did amazing job with my Silvia front bumper which is Pearl white. Very hard colour to match.
No runs or orange peeling at all.

Hondaracer 03-06-2019 11:33 AM

So this stupid accident ended up costing $6700 to repair..

Shout out to KP autobody on Venables though, great experience start to finish and the work done was excellent. They took the time to let me look at it both in the shop under good light as well as outside in natural light. Full detail job inside and out and the car looks good as new.

Just kinda choked a stupid little accident cost almost half the cost of the fucking car :yuno:

any updates with your bodyshop recommendations for 2021?

nismodrifter 04-27-2021 08:17 AM

I had a good experience in 2019 with Fixauto Burnaby South. Would go there again without any hesitation.

Can't recall who but someone here recommended them and I used them to fix up my TSX. Good work and good communication.

Great experience at Truline in Port Moody. It was for the e36, so I was VERY picky. They knocked it out of the park.

Bumping an old thread. Looking for body shop recommendations closer to Lougheed mall.

This might not help you headhunt3r, but I can also vouch for Richmond Auto in N Van. I had a pearl white Lexus some years ago and read somewhere, quite possibly here, that they had great equipment for matching difficult paint. So I decided they could be worth the hour + drive each way for a good result.

Well, the first time I went to pick it up the paint job was noticeably mismatched. I pointed it out to employee x and he said that was the best they could do with pearl white. The owner lady probably noticed I was unhappy and came out to quickly recognize that it was not up to her standards either.

Some days later I went back and the paint matched perfectly. Kudos on them for taking pride in their work.

westopher 03-05-2023 09:11 PM

Richmond autobody did a terrible match on my fog light covers and didn't seem very interested in doing anything about it.

punkwax 03-05-2023 09:43 PM

You met employee x.

I'm not sure that it helps or if it matters but maybe share which car this is for? That could help folks steer you in the right direction in case there is a shop with experience.

Re: Colour Matching - This is somewhat of a dark art given the advancement of paint technologies. Too bad Richmond Autobody didn't do anything about it. That really sucks.

For reference, my dad has been in the autobody industry for almost 30 years and paint matching requires a lot of skill, time, effort, and experience. It used to be easier back in the day with the paints used (i.e. not eco friendly lol) but certainly not a great way to deal with a bad situation. Hope you get that sorted out, westopher.

westopher 03-06-2023 07:33 AM

I just left it. They are such a small piece of the puzzle and my cars paint isn't perfect anyways.
A huge shame is truline has ceased operations, so now I'm stuck looking for someone that cares again. I actually had someone from coache collision in North van say they are really interested in taking over the gap for enthusiast work which is a good sign. It just starts with someone giving a shit about the work they're doing.

It's for a relative's CX-3 in white. A pole suddenly appeared out of nowhere and scraped the rear bumper enough to pop it off the clips but not enough to put a dent in it.

Does anyone know about Colorworks Toms Custom Autobody on Tupper? Is it the same as the old Tom's on Clarke & Como Lake?

Don't think it's the same. The Tupper location, bodymen are hacks. Painters are decent. Their other location in Poco on Kingsway, way better QC. If it's a CX-3, Morrey Bodyshop does mainly Mazda, Nissan, Volvo and Infiniti. I know these shops as I've been in that industry close to 25 yrs but recently left.

AzNightmare 03-12-2023 03:36 AM

I've been going to Cosmos on Clark and Adanac for years. Unfortunately, I've gotten to know the manager more than I want to since people keep hitting my car.

Great service and Joseph there is a nice guy. Got him to help me paint some aftermarket parts too, on the house. lol.
