SPRING MEET - APRIL 28 - TMILLS
 

So with Revscene's permission; Sihyauh Kingz & NIClub are planning to have a "Spring Meet" of sorts, not official RS event, but we're working towards making it as best as can be.

In true fashion this is a permitted and insured event, so there will be people making sure there isn't any bullshit, so if all you want is drama, burnouts, and hood rat shit, stay the fuck home.

If you want to come have a good start to car show season, see some buddies, and make some new ones then we'll see you out there.

Full Event Details:

Calling all Car, truck and Motorcycle Enthusiasts. We would like to welcome you all to our first annual Spring Meet at Tsawwassen Mills located at entrance area 2 on April 28, 2019. This is a family event so the rules:

Absolutely NO damaged to the property, revving, drifting, burnouts and speeding in the parking lot(try to be safe on your way as well). We have notified Delta PD about this event so don’t be surprised if they are around the area looking for bad decision makers. We will also report you to the police if you break the rules. We want to continue this event annually and for the summer so let’s respect Tsawwassen Mills and not make our car scene even worse than it already is. Lets also pick up after ourselves, we will do our best to have as many garbage cans throughout the parking lot but please let’s do the best we can on keeping the place clean.

Whats your thoughts on doing something charitable that I can notify media of? Sport car enthusiasts "complaining" isn't good image for anyone. But sport car enthusiasts banding together for a greater cause despite potential VI (from driving through Van), is a much better headline.

food drive, something for bc children's hospital, or see if canada blood services wants to set up their mobile donation centre?

Non-perishable food donations are always a pretty big hit, especially if we’re wxpecting a few hundred cars as usual

We did think about it, my initial thought was actually for the BC Search and Rescue Association. I've worked before with the NSSAR, and I know how much NSSAR relies on funding, and how successful they are compared to some other lesser funded regions.

For those that don't know the BC Government neglected SAR associations from their provincial budget this past month, which is a huge blow to a large group of volunteers who put their life and own gear/money on the line year round rescuing people who get themselves into stupid situations.

Unfortunately I'm only one of a much larger team helping put this together, and I'm away for work the entire way leading up to the event, so it's going to be hard enough just putting the event together as it is, and making sure that side of it is a success.

HOWEVER; you guys have renewed a little vigor in me, I'll bring it up with the organizing team one more time, and see who might be able to come up with plan to put something together.

Love the idea! I'm sure you could enlist help from RS-er's, including myself - I'd love to help. I tried bringing up this idea in the VI thread, combining automotive small businesses, charities, and car enthusiasts. This way, we would be supporting small business owners, as well as, the general community. However, no traction.

I think that if there are actionable items in place for people to do, it is easier for people to volunteer for those tasks. It's much more difficult asking if people have ideas.

Edit: someone stepped up and told everyone to stop guiding traffic and tell them all to park at the further lot. Then traffic moved :p

Good event. Didn’t hear much jackassery

That's the main drawback to reserving for clubs. It's well intentioned for those that paid an incentive to guarantee spots, but if they roll in at different times, it creates the traffic clusterfucks of past meets.

That said, things looked great, but if there are reserved spots, cordon off specific lot space for them, rather than individually blocking off each sector of parking and directing as needed. If there's no specific barriers of access, people will tend to think a bit, until things really start backing up because someone in a non-reserved group thought it would be cute to park in "car generations" instead of just getting the fuck in first.
