I've looked around canadian black book and VMR canada, but cant seem to find somewhere that would give me a more ballpark figure on used tesla pricing. Looking to pickup a model X. Can anyone chime in? Thanks RS

Edit: Educate me on Tesla, this is my first electric car and I don't know much about it. Would love to hear first hand experiences from owners of various models.

You set on the Tesla? Used still looks pretty pricey. Have you looked into the Volvo XC90 Plug in Hybrid as an alternative?

Dont the model x's leak water from the rear falcon doors? Pretty sure they were rated the most unreliable car too

I have no experience with the X but i own a 3 and it's a fantastic car. I really couldn't imagine going back to a gas vehicle as my daily driver.

How do the doors open in the 3 vs. the X?

^ The X rear doors are opened either through the monitor, buttons on the side of the doors or the remote. Front doors automatically open as you approach the door.

the doors in the 3 open like any other car. The X has the fancy doors that may or may not have issues with leakage.

So what happens when those doors can’t open? Ie parking garages with low clearance or if the car next to you is too close?

They can actually open with very little space between vehicles. Doesn't give you a ton of room but it'll be similar situation with any conventional door setup anyway. That said, combined with a low ceiling height it can become an issue.

But, like people who drive lowered or jacked up vehicles, you just have to be mindful of where you park in that case.

i dont understand the logic behind having those falcon doors on the rear. In my own personal case, and im sure with many others, the front doors are much more vital and thus would benefit from the falcon door wizardry.

I have a model X in Hong Kong. The falcon wing doors are very inconvenient here because of the underground parking. Even for use in North America, I would think the doors are more gimmicky than useful at all. They say you aren't a model X owner until you've at least bumped your head into the door a few times.

notice how my fwd don't even fully open with plenty of space. i've had family members and friends bump into it all the time and say it nearly poked their eye out

And they do come with a lot of issues. Luckily service and support here in HK are good. I would definitely consider service centers and warranty / availability of parts where you are.

That being said, i still love my model x. I love being able to idle my car without a ticket, or to remote turn my a/c 15min early on a hot summer here in HK, and getting into an ice cold car.

Don't mean to take the topic from TC but yeah I do like the car overall (the doors get old after a while). It is also much cheaper in HK because of goverment rebates/EV price scheme. There's also no consumables like and regular maintence items like changing oil or checkups. Only costly item are the tires =x. I've Had it for almost 2 years and almost 30k and it's my daily now with family. If it's your first Tesla, I suggest you to schedule a drive in it. It drives quite different because of the sharp acceleration, the strong deceleration when you let go of the accel pedal, and also it's a super heavy car with the battery, resulting in a quite bumpy ride with my 22'' tires.

Thanks for the likes you guys. Forgot one thing I should be mentioning is the aluminum body panels of the Tesla. You guys should know what that means for repairs , $$$ and parts availability maybe a problem.

It is a problem in HK so much that my friend just recently opened a bodyshop catering to Teslas.

Unfortunately yes in HK. I'm not too sure about North America. Too many Tesla's in HK (cheap) and also too many accidents. That's my my friend opened this shop. He bought a few wrecked Teslas to stock on parts. You can actually see a wrecked parts car X hiding behind inside the shop.
