It's super squeaky tho. Everyone's gonna look at you and think you need to replace your brake pads. They're good auto-x pads. A little loud on the street, very dusty, but it saves me from tboning morons - sooooo worth it??

Had the code checked out by my buddy's shop. They cleared the code and said it could be O2 sensor related, but they aren't sure until the code comes back.

Guess what came back 50km later???

Clear a code, don’t fix anything, it’s going to come back. It’s good to have some confirmation.

1M - 63K - 59,000km

Located in Calgary, with terrible pics. But damn, I remember when these things were selling at 70-80K. Not sure what market is for this right now, but not far from the highs. Hell that's almost M2 COMP money - like for another 10K.

That's a pretty good deal. Prices softened on them after the release of the M2. The market is flooded with M2 and M2C now which is the same size and higher performance.

Here is a 1M that sold for 54k CAD in Vancouver recently. 79kms
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2011-bmw-1m-49/

That said many Canadian 1M have gone to the USA so there aren't many left. Sane thing is happening with ITR.

Friend of mine. He is a cancer doctor so you can imagine it is well taken care of. Great buy if you are looking for a 1m

it's not hard to justify if you don't want to lose money,

one is ultra limited production
one isn't

it's hard to justify buying a money loser 20k 135i when you could buy a 1m or a 7k 128i 3 pedal auto-x slayer

not losing money = not driving the car ?? everybody is complaining on how unreliable N54s are and the amount of work that needs to be done to maintain them... 1m is no different, you will still run into the same issues if you are planning on driving it.

1m with 59k 62.900$
135i with 70k $13.000

50k difference, if u put same kms on them, you will lose more on the 1M

I think he's talking about deprecation over time and how much it will be worth 10 years from now. The 135 will be scrap, the 1m is going to be around for a long time.

Niche M cars are always bonkers money.

^^ this. I think of them as 2 totally different cars that happen to be almost the same.

60k 1M's are not going to be worth 30k ever.

they will be worth more than 60k soon

i'm not really one for "investment" cars, but I think if you found a low mile one of these, and kept that mileage relatively low (I'm not saying don't drive it) that you would never lose money on it.

not many cars @ 60k are going to do that

(by all means grab a 135i to beat on - I've considered that many times myself. 13k would be a very good price for a trouble free one - it seems when I've looked that you're either getting well over 100k kms cars, auto's, non-sport packs, or questionable mods and owner history. Tough to find a cherry, low mile car for less than 18k)

he's saying he won't lose money, you will always lose money, and lose more than $13.000 if he keeps it for 10 years, you would be lucky if u get 35k for it in 10 years

A friend of mine recently picked up a 135i with 73k from splendidauto and its super clean for $13.000, you can still see it on his website. They dont depreciate as much as the 335s. Dont get me wrong, id kill to have a 1M in my garage, actually a 135i with 1m kit as a daily and OEM 1M for the weekend would be the dream

i disagree

in 10 years I'll be wishing I had bought a 1M @ 60k

people are crazy for anything that is limited.

there is a portion of BMW enthusiasts that don't want the 1M to be considered a limited car, or even an M car for that matter. There will be plenty of buyers and collectors who disagree I think.

I want one - just not willing to sink that much money into a single car. I have more fun spreading the $ around a rotating cast of cheaper cars.

Not to derail fro the subject.

But would you guys consider the Porsche GT4 over the 1M?

I'm cross-shopping both and having a tough one choosing between the two.

Jasonturbo could answer that one since he got his second GT4 after selling me his 1M.

I am really enjoying my 1M but GT4 is in another league. Personally I needed back seats for my kids. (Ok truth is I can't afford a GT car either) Oh and I got beat my a modified 135i at autox yesterday lol

E46 M3 LSB modded goes for BIG money! About $124,000 CAD with fees.

^ damn there are a lot of sweet goodies on that with all the right mods. But no way in hell would I pay 124k for a low mileage CSL doppelganger that has just been sitting around.

You must honestly not have looked at the prices of a single car on the internet in the last 3 years if you think a 1M that isn't in two pieces is ever going to sell for 35k.

As touring teg said, the gt4 is in a totally different league vs the 1m. The gt4 pricing is dropping fast right now. Should be able to get a low mileage car for $100k. They will even drop faster, when 718 gt4s are released in q1 2019. Porsche supposedly are producing lots of them, so you probably won’t have to pay the porsche tax on a new one. Since the 2016 gt4 really has no advantages over the 718 gt4, this will put even more downward pressure on 2016 pricing.

Edit: If you drive both it won't be a hard choice.

If money is no object, GT4>1M.

1M is a great little car, I prefer it to E9X M3, but it's still very docile compared to any Porsche GT car.

This is my second GT4, always puts a smile on my face, doesn't quite give me the intense "sweaty palm" nervousness I got from a 997 GT3 but offers 9/10 the same level of overall excitement with infinitely more comfort and technology.

If you are GT4 shopping make sure you understand the options, it took me a long time to find a car in the "just right" spec that wasn't clapped out. The best GT4 on the market right now (IMO) is the white car @ Porsche Centre Langley, however, the car is no longer listed on their website so I'm assuming it has sold.

https://abbotsford.craigslist.org/ct...906402797.html

FWIW Kevin Lee is the sales rep that sold me my GT4 from PCL, take my advice and speak with him if you want to see/drive any of their inventory, he will take good care of you.

I waited for 718 GT4 details before pulling the trigger on the 981 GT4, there are a number of people like me on RL that were holding out for 718 GT4 details and delivery timeframes before committing to a 981 GT4 purchase. Consider that I have a deposit for a 718 GT4 and have almost not interest in moving ahead with the purchase, I like many others do not care for the:

- Dash vent design
- Rear diffuser design and lack of centre exit exhaust
- Rear wing winglet and tail light design
- Wheel design
- Dull exhaust note
- 17% increase in base MSRP

When the 981 GT4 was first released it was met with frantic excitement, though this was 5 years after Porsche last offered a manual GT car, so there was 5 years of pent up demand for a sporty stick shift Porsche. By comparison there is very little excitement for the 718 GT4, the forums are sharply divided between those that are keeping their 981 GT4 and those that want a 718 GT4 in PDK, and the option for PDK isn't even available at this time.

My SA in Edmonton told me that 8/10 of the 718 GT4 deposits he is sitting on are likely not moving ahead with a purchase, same story with my SA here in Van, very little real demand it seems. In typical Porsche fashion there was lots of speculators that were sitting on the sidelines hoping the GT4 would present an opportunity to profit, but just like 991 GT3, the time to profit on Porsche GT cars has come and gone, Porsche hype is dead for the moment.

It's worth noting that there is only 16 GT4's for sale in all of Canada right now, at peak 2-3 months ago there was 28, that numbered has gradually dwindled over time and the cars available now are all much higher KM than what was on the market 30-60 days ago.

I paid 117K for my car, 4700km, almost every option box ticked, never tracked, virtually new in every way w/ 2 years of CPO. A comparably built 718 GT4 would have cost me 138K. Early reviews of the 718 GT4 suggest it has been softened up, it is more usable as a daily with lighter steering, softer clutch pedal, and more reserved engine note... I fail to understand how these are "improvements" to the old car, the old car is great because it's so rowdy to drive. The major selling point Porsche seems to have with the 718 GT4 is the aerodynamics, tragically though 95% of buyers could give a shit about the increase in downforce with no additional drag etc. It will be interesting to see what happens with the new 4.0L engine when the aftermarket gets their hands on it, removal of the GPF and a tune will likely completely transform the nature of the engine and the available power.

Contrary to your position, I would say that the 17% increase in base MSRP of the 718 GT4 should help prop up 981 GT4 prices. Having said that, Porsche prices in general are coming down, a 997.1 GT3 RS in RS Green just sold for 140k USD on BaT, there hasn't a been a frog trade hands for <200K in the last 4 years, but this is 2019, and times they are a changin'.
