For me, Canada is home - a country that stands for freedom, fairness, diversity, and good will. My family has been here for four generations. I wish FOBs would embrace this country and invest in it by enhancing its positives - not turn it into the shithole they came/escaped from.
On a side note..... I wish Justin would be more like his father, and I'm not talking Bieber, gulolol.

I can't say I feel any pride. Pride should be reserved for things you accomplished, not what other people accomplished. At this point in my life, I don't think I contributed anything to the country other than paying my taxes.
My parents on the other hand... They wanted to move here so they saved up whatever money they could in 1970's rural China and made the move. When they got here, they decided they liked it here. They got jobs, made enough money to buy a house and raise a family. They wanted to stay so they became citizens. I think they've earned the right to go to the celebrations every year and wave their little flags.
I was just along for the ride. A lot of people who were born here fall into the same boat. We just won the lottery of being born in a good place. We haven't done anything that allows us to be "proud" Canadians. Most of us have never served or even cleaned up a beach.
Instead of going out and celebrating.... go volunteer, contribute, etc....

I'm thinking the Canada Day Celebration in Cloverdale, bringing the 90's back with Bif Naked and Our Lady Peace. Spend it with my wife and son.

Diversity, I genuinely care about this Country and I'm proud to be a Canadian.
What makes you proud to be Canadian (moments in history, famous people, the land, etc.)?
I like the fact Canadians are considered "nice". Stereotypes are stereotypes for a reason and I think generally speaking Canadians are nice, honest people. Focusing in on our province I believe that British Columbia is one of the most beautiful places on this continent and I'm lucky to call it home.
How many generations has your family been in this country?
Great Grandparents on my dads side came here from the Ukraine and immigrated to Saskatchewan. One side of my great grandparents on my moms side immigrated from Germany to the USA "North Dakota", my Grandma married a Canadian. I guess that makes me 4th generation?

If I were Canada, I would wish people to debate differences of ideas in a civil manner where both sides can be expressed and compromises made. It would be more fundamental to growth and prosperity versus what we have now where elite personnel (in politics and media) basically tell us what is right and wrong through hysteria and opinion rather than unbiased evidence and statistics which is considered boring and unproductive to the army of slacktivists.

what does it mean to be canadian? i grew up in richmond in 90s and early 2000s, all i knew was how to be a honger lol and now look where i am hahahaha
joke aside im not doing anything on canada day, maybe see if anyone would know if its canada day and hope for a "happy canada day"
my dad was the first person from the family leave and travel oversea to study/live, family was poor but he manage to get a scholarship to chicago and that really started it all for his family as my grandfather believe u should see the world, learn more while your young
we came to vancouver canada in 94 and the reason we choose vancouver over the states was cuz my dad lived in the usa for 10 years, it was great country as it gave him opportunities, free education as well as learning a lot, but the whole melting pot thing and few major factors made him turn away
my dads cousin came to vancouver in 89 and thats why we chose vancouver, it was kinda like the usa but more diverse (aka we were allow to be who we are lol)
things i remember from childhood (that are not honger related):
i remember when we first came to canada we stay at my dads cousins house for while in COQ, i remember my dad would play scocer, baseball and hockey with my cousins friends at night, then after the game my dad would them all drinks at the 7-11
once we got home my uncle would have made instead noodles ready for us, then he ask them about the game, back then i was little so i could only watch and my uncle is a crippled on one leg (so he walks funny)
to u guys it wasnt much but it felt very warm to me, i never really seen my dad do much besides work and inever really seen my dad have this much fun with others...........i dont know how to say it but it felt right, felt right at home
this may sound like something that could happen anywhere which isnt special at all but to me it was as it was the first time, its like driving a manual car with vtec for the first time, yes it can be any car out there but your first time in vtec is special

but i'm gonna disagree against the reputation that Canadians are nice
friendly as in we might greet strangers, and kind like take in refugees/aid other societies, sure, but on the whole not what i consider hospitable on a personal level
eastern europe, small island nations, heck even quite a few parts in the US can make us look a little cold hearted

What will you be doing on Canada Day?
Working from 8am to noon then go to waterfront to celebrate with wife. Gone home for dinner and call it a day (might watch the fireworks at Coq since near our place there is also fireworks at 10pm)
What does Canada mean to you?
Well I was born in Canada so this is my home. However, I feel lost over the years about Canada values. Yes I know we accept everyone and want to learn their culture but it just seems now a lot of immgrants, refugee just don't have a shit about Canada vales and culture. Like they expect everyone to bend over for them and if we don't they throw a fit. Maybe we should actually test these people to make sure they are willing to learn our culture and be part of it instead of throwing a fit (looking at you Richmond).

Also I don't think having your Grandmother here qualifies you as 3rd generation unless they immigrated here themselves and had your parents in Canada.
For example my Great-grandmother (RIP) lived in Canada for over 60 years. But she was born in China, as was my Maternal grandparents and my Mother (who came to Canada age 6). My brother and I are the only generation born on Canadian soil. So even with all that history, I'm still considered a 2nd generation Canadian only.
