Legendary NBA player Kobe Bryant has died in a California helicopter crash, a report said Sunday.

He was 41.

Bryant was among at least four people traveling in his private helicopter over Calabasas when a fire broke out, sending the chopper spiraling from the sky, according to TMZ Sports.

There were no survivors, and the cause of the crash is under investigation, according to TMZ.

Bryant’s wife, Vanessa, was not among those aboard the chopper, according to the report.

Can someone fix the title?

Bryant starred for two decades with the Los Angeles Lakers, winning five championships and making 18 All-Star Games before retiring after the 2016 season.
Can someone fix the title?

I'm watching cnn right now and so far they've said they don't know who the victims were. Tmz and a few other sites arw saying he was one of them but I'm on the fence how credible it is.

twitchyzero 01-26-2020 11:06 AM

didn't get very long to enjoy his retirement

Harvey Specter 01-26-2020 11:11 AM

It's confirmed on ESPN and various LA news outlets. RIP.

I put on Sportscentre on as they are showing highlights of Lebron passing Kobe in all time points yesterday. Too bad Kobe couldn't have held his position before passing

Manic! 01-26-2020 11:22 AM

NBC reporting his 4 daughters were in the helicopter.

I’ve read that only one of them was. Awful for his wife regardless, but if it was all 4 of them, holy fuck.....

Ludepower 01-26-2020 12:33 PM

He tweeted Lebron congratulating on breaking his record. Speechless right now. RIP sigh.

HonestTea 01-26-2020 12:45 PM

RIP KOBE :(

Manic! 01-26-2020 12:57 PM

New report it was him, his 13-year-old daughter, a teammate and another parent plus the pilot . They were headed to a basketball game.

Infiniti 01-26-2020 01:14 PM

RIP

Jmac 01-26-2020 01:26 PM

RIP to one of basketball’s all-time greats and his daughter

TY to the mod who corrected the spelling

Raid3n 01-26-2020 01:26 PM

Fixed the title for you, manic.

whitev70r 01-26-2020 01:35 PM

Quite moving ...

Sir_Loin 01-26-2020 02:11 PM

FVV stopped dribbling at 8 secs left on the clock. Classy move by both organizations. 81 vs Raptors and the playoff battles against the Spurs.

Obviously too early to know if there were mechanical issues at work, however, it at least appears the pilot was pushing it in bad weather/vis. Anyone who's ever been to LA knows the sea fog there can be thick and fast. RIP to all onboard.

Sad anytime anyone dies, great bball player and I'm sad for his wife and his daughter who died and everyone on the flight.... but having a hard time with all the great family man/person comments? Guess we just forget when someone's an adulterer/possible rapist when they're rich and popular.

That's the kind of thought you should keep to yourself right now...

Infiniti 01-26-2020 05:12 PM

Makes you wonder why his flight was even in the air in the first place given that other chopper operators such as LAPD air support were grounded because of the fog at that time.

Hondaracer 01-26-2020 05:14 PM

Man general aviation is sketchy af..

When you’re loaded feels like such a risk to fly PJ’s and private choppers

MarkyMark 01-26-2020 05:50 PM

RIP

Much like Roy Halladay their post retirement lives were just getting started, what a shame.
