Small claims experience - collecting

so as I had posted about a contractor from hell.

https://www.revscene.net/forums/7151...ml#post8913506

I did take him to court and got some money awarded by the judge. I am wondering if anybody has had experience collecting.

i read on the court site that you can get a judgment to garnish wages/bank account etc. has anybody dealt w/ this in small claims and gone that far as to garnish wages or bank accounts. any insights would be helpful. the debtor wants me to settle on a lower amount than awarded by the court.

thanks

The time to settle is before going to court. Tell them it's too late and pay up.

Yes I have.

I won the hearing. I took the paperwork and went to the bank. BAM, tried to garnish bank account. You have to have ALL paper work and account number correct.

The guy didn't have the 3k he owed me so I couldn't get any money back.
1) you can only garnish X amount
2) you can only garnish the specific X bank account (so you better have all the details).

I've only had someone who didn't have multiple accounts and was able to get money from the account.

If it's not over 2k, i wouldn't waste my time and you better have some sort of connections at the bank to be honest.
