Are disinfectant wipe and hand sanitizer sold out everywhere?

Hehe 03-15-2020 06:05 PM

The true set it and forget it are those powder solutions from Costco. 20+ years of shelf life (really, they are eatable even past that. But you get the idea) and those are down to science as far as what’s needed for body to survive.

They probably aren’t tasty, but for about $1000 or less you can get enough for a family of 4 for over a month iirc. If you truly want the once for all solution, there’s a lot of value there.

Yes, and soap and hot water work better.

Ludepower 03-15-2020 07:02 PM

I need it for whipping down shopping carts and nice to have on the go.

If you guys can keep a eye out for restock then thank you.

Swung by the coquitlam princess auto and they still had a few of these on the shelves as of this afternoon

As for hand sani. Havent seen any on shelves in a while.

You're probably gonna have an easier time just wearing latex gloves while shopping :alone:

Last but not least, have a PLAN. Not just preparation of kit and drills, but also long term plans on using the stocks and put new ones in. You don't want to end up like Ontario where they had millions of N95 masks stored for emergency, only to find out that they all expired long time ago when actually needed. That's because they only started a plan to store it, but not using and replacing them as time goes.

Great tip. My winter preparedness kits always become my hiking snacks in the spring lol

would old non-perishables actually make you sick or is it still edible in no water/electricity/gas and full-on survival mode?

Use your brain and your senses. Touch, is the can bulged? Look, does it pass visual test? Smell, I feel that ones obvious. Taste, is it metallic etc.

If you ever are in that situation where you have to risk it, follow the foragers rule. If you’re unsure, eat a thumbnail amount and wait an hour. No adverse effects? Try a small palm sized amount and wait another hour. Still no ill effects? Then it’s probably okay

Went to take a quick look, and they're ALL sold out. Even the ones that cost thousands of dollars. Well, atleast some people are gonna be prepared :alone:

While I wait for the whole house compressor to take shape, what's a decent portable one to get? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Whole house compressor?

If your talkin generators cant really go wrong with a honda.

As for size you'll need to calculate your amp/wattage needs and select a model from there.

Grandview Hwy superstore has some wipes in the cylindrical container. Fairly low on stock already, but peek at the checkouts because people aren't paying attention to the limit of 2 only, so the cashier takes away the surplus. (this was at about 07:30 this morning)

Sorry............ I meant inverter generator, lol.

Actually, conventional generator might be better for my use. Inverter generators are efficient but costlier and aren't as powerful. More for RV's and Food Trucks, lol.

I've always been a Honda fanboi........... Mugen Power! I've heard Yamaha is pretty good and reliable.

Yamaha's are fine but for me honda generators are the way to go. I've used them for years without issue.

In a pinch you can also boil water in a plastic bottle hanging in a fire . As long as the flames don't get higher than the water level the plastic won't melt since the water transfers heat faster than plastic does.

I've never had a chance to test it out but it seemed like a handy trick on Survivorman. Now might be a good time to binge watch that show actually.

i like how everything is getting flagged on craigslist so hard that you can't find any emergency supplies for resale there anymore. thumbs up to all the flaggers!

Same as eBay, but ppl are putting up new listings faster than they're removing them

I ordered another box of masks (cuz I wasn't as prepared as I thought I was) and the users acct was frozen by ebay as I was trying to pay.

Another listing got removed after I had paid, and ebay issued me a warning note saying I may not get my item, but don't worry as their money back guarantee was in place (I ordered from a user that has a 100% rating and several hundred ratings)

Side note, these fuckers are marking up masks like 10X the price -_-

T4RAWR 03-16-2020 08:58 PM

Looks like cleaning wipes like lysol and purell are slowly making their way back onto shelves.

I think costco had some and save on for the early risers first in liners
