Actually it's a smaller volcano that was formed last time Krakatoa erupted and destroyed the island. When that happened, 40 thousand people died and the weather changed worldwide for close to a decade.
Yea, we're just tip of the iceberg here. We're not in hurricane season, or tornado season, or typhoon season YET. Once those start, we're so so deep in it.

That is, by far, one of my greatest worries for the Lower Mainland. For ages now, everyone has known that a major earthquake hitting the region should be expected. Yet, the entire region, is grossly underprepared for such an event. Moreover, I am highly skeptical on the local authorities' (apolitical comment) ability to handle such a disaster, mainly due to inexperience and a lack of resources.
Moreover, seeing some of the behaviour during this current situation has me in serious doubt on how society will act when its not just TP thats out, but also electricity, and running water.
