Try adjusting from your computer volume? Also check your playback device is your monitor?

I tried that already. It lets me adjust on HDMI 1 but when it goes to HDMI 2 it's still really loud

which windows version do u have? u need to change the volume slider to the audio output's source to adjust that specific output's volume. for example if ur on windows 10, when u click on the speaker icon, above the volume slider is the output ur adjusting, since ur just using the 2.5mm audio out, look for one thats labeled "speaker" and try changing that.

Now that you provided more information and you are trying to adjust volume on your Switch, which is plugged into your monitor using the HDMI 2 source, then any setting you are testing on your computer will not affect the Switch's volume.

I don't own a Switch, so not sure if there are specifics to that. Sounds like the issue is due to your monitor's settings. Go through that (via buttons on your monitor) and see if there's a setting maybe?

You'll need to adjust the volume in the monitor menus or get headphones with their own volume adjustment. The monitors I've had with speakers & audio out had volume control, though it's a bit clunky.
