| Physio Recommendations
Hey guys, I got diagnosed with some mild scoliosis in my middle back and it’s causing some issues with wear and tear on the discs between the 3rd and 4th vertebrae in my lower back.
Basically sitting is totally fine and I can movie freely if it’s running, but standing still and walking slowly (ie: sauntering in the mall) is deadly the whole lower back seizes up.
Anyway, I got a prescription for Physio, but I’m wondering if anyone here has recommendations for a Physio they have experience with who specializes in back issues? Prefer in Richmond for the sake of convenience, but can travel if necessary.
Thank you!

I don't have your specific issue but I go to Strength Through Motion, located on No.5 road at the Richmond Sports and Fitness facility.
They really got me back on my feet (literally) after my two car accidents earlier this year. The combination of Dr. Cam Wong (physio), Dr. Michael Liang (chrio), and Troy Murphy (Active Rehab) really got me back together. The beauty of having all of them under one roof is that they work together on your treatment plan and it's not several different ones.
I was being treated for lower back, mid back, upper back, neck, and knees. My major issues were with my left and right PSIS / QL.
Cam did IMS (white ppl accupunture) for me and it worked wonders. That combined with my active rehab treatments prescribed by Troy, helped my body learn how to move properly and recover.
I'm not 100% there yet, but I'm really happy with all their work with me.

I've been recommending Kelvin Tam Physio on Broadway & Ash to anyone needing physio for the longest time. Kelvin has been extremely good at treating me and my family, and is one of the rare physios out there that rely far more heavily on using his hands than machines to treat his patients. Prior to COVID, he will also make sure you work through a thorough physical program with his kinesiologist at his clinic. But with COVID happening, I doubt he is still making his patients work out at his clinic.
But Kelvin is also definitely not a physio that everyone likes. I'd say his treatments are super effective, but they are also very painful. Additionally, he treats his patients in a pipeline operation type of manner, where he only spends 5 - 10 min with each patient, and some people really do not like that. I don't have a problem with it because at the end of the day, the only thing that matters to me is how quickly I recover, not how much time he spends on me. But some people find that short 1-on-1 treatment time to be unprofessional or disrespectful.
All this might have changed because of COVID though. No one in my family has seen Kelvin since COVID started.

Brendan at Atlas Physio on Elmbridge in Richmond has helped me alot with my lower back and neck. He's really good, my wife sees him as well. If you see him say hi from Garett.
Before when my back would lock up I would be completely immobile, for days. When my neck was messed up I had no feeling over part of my left hand going up my arm. For a while I figured I'd be messed up for life, so lucky that wasn't the case.

I use Jason @ Myodetox on Fraser St, Vancouver. I've always had like bad posture from desk job and chest pain over the recent years. I've been pretty good this past year with consistent home stretching exercises that's helped me improve posture and put the chest discomfort behind me.
