The closet thing to a "collection" of anything I have are vinyl records and beer glasses. But just what I come across that I like (or in the case of the records can pilfer from family members who don't want them), I don't obsess about or actively pursue adding to those collections. |
I've collected Pokemon cards, but the prices are too high now to buy anything nice |

1. sneakers - never got many “cool” shoes back in highschool, so now I’m filling that void. I probably have around 200 pairs currently. Feels good when I get that W or flip 10 pairs to get myself a free pair that I really want. 2. cars - not really collect because I don’t have the money or space. Most cars also don’t hold value. But I did recently get my highschool dream car (E46 M3) and university “want” car (IS350). 3. supreme accessories and stickers - just looks nice and some are rare. 4. hot wheels - satisfy my hunting for cool things desires for only $1-2 a piece! 5. G-shock - started during covid because of the GA2100-1A1 hype but quickly lost interest |

I've recently had an urge to try to collect the Pokemon game versions that I don't have (a lot of early gen game carts) but the prices have shot up crazy. No longer feasible for what they are... and not particularly rare yet either I've got a small collection of license plates that I try to get one from a souvenir shop each city I visit. And traffic lights. I think i always kind of start something but never really finish |

Beer taps? Am I thinking of something else? Please enlighten me. |
https://i.imgur.com/1Kcv5Bu.jpg https://i.imgur.com/WlxgDEG.jpg I collect synthesizers. I have about 17 of them (I honestly lost count). Some are in storage. Purple photo is pretty old but gives an idea of what I collect. Bottom photo is recent and showcasing it all gets used. I've moved away from cars (though still hang onto what I have). If my life took a financial hit due the world as it is, the cars would go first. The music will stay... |

Music............ nothing else in life moves you like music. I've been a musician most of my life. Started out playing in a drum and bugle corps at the age of 10. I've played just about every wind instrument in the orchestra. Never got into strings, but dabbled in percussion instruments. I studied music at Douglas College and UBC. Almost became a professional musician. Being a perfectionist stopped me from going on. Now I just enjoy it. Listening to it more than playing it............ Music has charms to soothe the savage breast. Man, I am so jelly right now of your collection. |
I collect shitty old Hondas and Chevy trucks, try to make them quicker than your average new sports car. |
Not very original, but my wife and I grab a shot glass every place we go (if we can) since they're usually easy to find and bring back. I've also got license plates from some of the places I've been. |

Forgot to mention my Hard Rock pin collection as well as other Hard Rock themed items. Yes, a Zippo Lighter from each of the locations I have visited. Wasn't into Zippo lighters back when I did the cross continent road trip, so I got them recently from the on-line Rock Shop. Do any of you collect Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics souvenirs? |
I've got a few things on the go... - Model cars all scales... 1:18, 1:43, 1:64... even a few 1:12 too - NA1/NA2 NSX models... I have a massive collection, tried to get everything even scouring Yahoo Japan every day... would buy every colour of every release too... but had to stop at some point when OneModel released so many colours of their 1:18 and 1:12 scale at $600usd a piece... that's just mental... I have a real 1/50 Ebbro Zanardi 1:43 NSX that's my proudest model I guess, you only got it if you bought a Zanardi - Transformers... I have a big Masterpiece and G1 collection both boxed and loose... and most Optimus Prime stuff - Iron Giant, I collect almost anything to do with that movie - Stitch the Disney character... I have a LOT of figures or stuffies haha yah I'll admit it - Bluetooth Speakers, for some reason I can't get enough of them... everything from a $2 mini speaker that's the size of a loonie up to a Kipsch Three that was like $400+ - Some random Funko and other things like that - Real cars... I've got 7 of them right now... although mostly that's because I'm waiting on the USA to re-open some day so I can sell a bunch of them down there |

Richmond, live close to the city and have enough property to keep a bunch of cars. I just counted 9 cars inside and 4 outside. I've bought and sold cars on Ebay, I want to try BAT when the border opens back up. Have you sold on BAT? |
the main thing for me i know about collecting is resale value... if i ever let go of anything (what i don't really plan to do anyway truthfully) is i'll get more money out of than i put in. and something about "Limited amount" gets me hyped before buying it. its like you're only the chosen few. |

I kind of cheated my way onto BAT a couple times? I made Craigslist ads for cars and then a few days later submitted them as "finds" to BAT and then they ended up choosing them and posting them up. All the publicity, none of the auction fees. I plan to approach them or carsandbids with my 95 MR2 Turbo when the border re-opens. eBay is kind of useless, my experience is people just buy-it-now on your item and then ghost you and you're stuck waiting to re-list. I did sell a 1971 Corolla on there once though, so it does work sometimes as you already know! I've sold 3 cars to people in USA by advertising on Seattle Craigslist... which costs money now actually... but yah that tends to work. The border is a big mental obstacle to people. Also throw-in the fact that it seems a lot of people in USA have a criminal background? 2/3 times I sold cars to WA residents they had to send someone else over to pick it up because they couldn't cross hahahaha |
Not all collectibles are costly................ or take up lots of space. I collect, or used to, collect McDonald's Monopoly bags. Free. Every year, the design changes. I used to have pristine unused bags. Just have to ask the cashier for them. I even had the US version. Different time of the year. Small, medium, and large, but not all years. Anyway........ Monopoly game boards. |
