Diablo 2 Remastered

anyone noticed this at blizzcon this year?
I think it's a long time coming. tbh i'm more interested in this than D4.

it's coming on PC and consoles apparently. not sure how console would work considering i need all the function keys for hot keys and still didn't have enough LOL

Razor Ramon HG 02-27-2021 08:33 PM

I think consoles would be ok. I played D3 on Switch and it was pretty good in terms of control.

I never played D2 so I will try this. I just hope it's not more than $40.

Mini rant, but I played the heck out of D2 when I was in highschool and loved it, but found D3 incredibly boring.

Now watching D4 videos and I'm all excited, but it honestly just looks like D3... with slightly better graphics. It actually looks as boring as D3.

Am I just getting old? Do I just have rainbow colored lenses when looking at D2? I wouldn't be surprised if I find D2 incredibly boring if I played it now too...

I wonder how many people are in the same boat as me. Overly nostalgic about D2, but in actuality, it was only amazing AT THE TIME (and when everyone playing it was like 20 years younger).

I can see myself buying D4 regardless... and playing 10 hours and getting bored and quit. I'm REALLY REALLY hoping D4 will change my mind.

i just play. meh

It's age man. I felt the same way about a ton of games I was really into back in the day, they just don't hit the same anymore.

Nowadays every new release to me is a friggin snore fest. I'll buy a game, and the damn thing will sit on the system for weeks before I even bother to fire it up, takes a lot more to get me "into" it.

It's age, as you get older it becomes more of a pain in the ass to learn the specifics of a given game, to get good at it, to put in the effort to do so.

GLOW 02-28-2021 10:07 AM

i think it's age and what it was at the time.
I played D3 on PS3 and Switch and it was nice to play on the couch with dummed down controls/gameplay suitable for a controller and for a casual gamer which i've become.

D2 for me is nostalgia for sure, but with so many diff classes, so many diff skill tree/builds, AND the fact you can play up to 8 players at the same time was huge.

when i played D3 on PS3/switch, i was mostly solo'ing for the most part which is much more boring. doing sancturary/meph/baal runs with 8 people was just fun.

i think it'll take away a bit of the awe in the sense online gaming is such a norm.
I hope it's a $40 game or less on switch as well. i don't mind trying it for that platform as i'm not sure i have a PC powerful enough to run it, i mostly use PC for youtube and office work these days...

the video of d4 did look like just another d3. maybe i'd enjoy d3 more if the switch/ps3 had an online community...

Mr.Money 02-28-2021 01:34 PM

if you played the hell out of it back in the day i don't know how a simple 3D refresh is gonna work out if you already Know what to do asap and already experienced it.

anytime i see remastered with a game i played before i'm not even hyped because i played the hell out of it and remember every detail.

Spoon 02-28-2021 01:55 PM

Loss interest in D3 when they loss the auction house. I liked the RNG.

GLOW 02-28-2021 02:57 PM

i played the HELL out of d2, no pun intended...
i actually wanted to play it again b/c i didn't really see too many games these days that interested me but i think my CD key was stolen and the way old bnet was with new didn't jive...i was considering buying it on the new bnet but it was like $25-30 :fuckthatshit:

so this kind of excites me to at least try again...i guess with 10 potential controller buttons it's almost like having 12 function keys...no typing on a console would suck, assuming there's an online community. local multi-player like consoles had would be kind of cool...

or games nowadays fucking sucks.

Look at roblox and fortnite... kids are playing this instead of diablo 2 and counter strike 1.6

I totally agree. I find myself having a tough time getting into games nowadays, so all seem to have this samey feeling to them, and it's not the recycling of engines. Even Ghosts of Tsushima was highly touted last year, I found it meh, alright, but nothing new to the genre in terms of mechanics.

Games just have a safe approach to them now, they all share similar mechanics, there aren't any risks being made by publishers in gaming nowadays.

The days of a developer/publisher putting out something new or different seem to be greatly diminished.

It's all sequels and remakes now.

bruh put on an episode of transformers g1 or gi-joe. you'll have a hard time sitting through 1 full episode without a frown and confused as to how you could ever enjoy watching that shit.

rainbow colored lenses are awesome. Don't ruin it by playing it again. It shall remain perfect in the mind forever.

freakshow 06-24-2021 12:35 PM

Release date set for Sept 23. I just started up on D2 again (new ladder this month), anyone else playing?

Hondaracer 06-25-2021 09:12 AM

D3 was completely soulless and boring. Hated the different cities etc. I bought it for switch after having it on PC to play on a long plane ride. Played a necromancer on hard difficulty snd I don’t think I died the entire game and expansion..

I’ll probably buy the remaster just due to the memories lol

GLOW 09-26-2021 12:10 PM

i read 1 review and it was great in 2000 but not today and found it clunky.

i'm a little disappointed as i only have switch and a laptop (non-dedicated graphics card).

so i can't play on PC with 8 player, and i don't think i'll enjoy playing on the switch where apparently it's capped at 4 players.

anyone play it yet? thoughts?

BlackV62K2 09-27-2021 08:29 AM

Played it a few weeks ago on my Xbox series X when they did a beta test. While it was fun, I found the controller to be too clunky. I've played all the Diablo series on the PC with keyboard and mouse and couldn't get used to the controller. I would buy it for the PC if I still had a gaming PC.

GLOW 11-25-2021 07:38 AM

seems like it's on sale on pc and all consoles, including nintendo switch right now

i'll prob buy it as i don't have a PC that can run it which boggles the mind that you need a dedicated video card for this thing...

Hondaracer 11-25-2021 08:16 AM

Yea it’s pretty intensive. My comp is pretty old now, i7 2600k with an R9 390 but even they really chugs along sometimes when playing, crashes occasionally etc

GLOW 11-25-2021 10:20 AM

switch, which is the only system i have - only allows 4 players max due to the processing power needed they say.

i'll miss 8 player pally games with 8 diff auras, but i doubt the online community is large on the switch anyways so i'll probably end up building a zookeeper :alone:

GLOW 12-23-2021 08:05 AM

apparently there's a bug on console where you're a necro and try to kill diablo and baal with a golem and iron maiden, it will always crash near death :rukidding:

happened to me 3 times in a row after 20 min of kiting and casting iron maiden/golem when diablo almost dead.

looks like i'll have to grind even more painfully to kill him differently as there's 99.9% solo games on the switch it seems...

at least i wasn't a summoner maybe 60min of spamming poison nova will work, yep, reliving the blizzard nostalgia :lawl:

i was tempted to see if nintendo would refund me based on this but i figured they won't as i have too many hours in to it already.
