Remember when nobody knew Mark Donnelly was a weirdo? Those anthems were epic (not thanks to him, thanks to the fans, but he was the first I think to do it in a non emergency situation)

I always thought he was a lazy fuck. Sings only half of the anthem and expects the crowd to do the rest. Just sing it and crowd will join when they want to.
I didn't mind it. Engages the crowd and shows his showmanship. The sport of hockey just doesn't do enough fan interaction. I don't watch much NFL but the way they almost make the fan part of the ongoing game is incredible. Hockey still has that Old Boys Club mentality.
As for him being a weirdo, well you know what The Joker said you either die a hero or live long enough to become a villain

Fuck he used to get up with allll kinds of swagger at a pub on Fraser from his own table (no one else was allowed to sit there) and sing it for road games and practically do a mic drop after.

World juniors is kind of a hit or miss lately, it’s definitely no where near what it once was when players like Eberle etc. we’re part of it, those times were straight up hype and usually great tournaments
Although I went to the Fins win in 2019 at rogers arena and that was pretty fantastic so maybe I shouldn’t speak so soon
