The Department of Homeland Security issued a bulletin to US law enforcement agencies warning of a convoy “potentially impacting Super Bowl LVI” on 13 February, and the 1 March State of the Union address in Washington, where the mooted convoy is likely to arrive, CBS reported.

The DHS bulletin said such a protest “could severely disrupt transportation, federal government, and law enforcement operations through gridlock and potential counter-protests”.

“Freedom convoys” of motorists that have set off from half a dozen French cities in protest against the country’s coronavirus restrictions will not be allowed to enter Paris, the capital’s police authority has said.

“The stated objective of these demonstrations is to 'block the capital’ by preventing road traffic from circulating in order to further their demands … from Friday, before moving on to Brussels on Monday,” the authority said.

“Because of the risk to public order, these protests will be banned from 11 to 14 February,” it said, adding the penalties for blocking public roads included two years in prison, a fine of €4,500 and a three-year driving ban.

Convoys of cars, vans and motorbikes left Nice in the south-east, Bayonne in the south-west, Strasbourg in the north-east and Cherbourg in the north-west, among other cities, for Paris on Wednesday and Thursday, inspired by a two-week truckers’ demonstration in Canada.

“There will be a special deployment of officers to prevent blockages of major roads, issue tickets and arrest those who contravene this protest ban,” Paris police said, adding that instructions had been given to “act firmly”.

Protesters are already blocking the Windsor - Michigan border crossing, and I don't think anyone has been arrested yet. Only an injunction is being sought to end the blockade. I honestly don't know why the Trudeau and Ford governments aren't taking a more active role to end this when it is the busiest and most economically important CAN-US crossing there is.

Auto plants in Ontario are having to close because they can't get parts. Who do you think is going to get the blame, JT or the politician having dinner with the protesters.

There's a chain of command, and it doesn't start at the PM making the decision. The Mayor of Ottawa with the Chief of OPS are the ones that need to hand over operations to the RCMP/Federal government which is something they have yet to do. Sure they are asking for more personel, but without handing over the situation taking place on provincial and municipal land, the Feds have no immediate authority.

If you've listened in or watched any of the meetings between MoO/Chief of OPS/Riding representatives, you can see there is corruption going on and the main players are in bed with the protesters. It's a frustrating thing to hear from the people that have the power to start the end of this.
