Rock Chips

Excuse Me Sir, Do You Have a Moment to Talk About Rock Chips?

So sadly in the last few months the windshields on a few of my cars have gotten rock chips. Where's the best place to fix it? I recall reading somewhere that certain ICBC shops offer the service for free? Should I DIY? I've watched a few YouTube videos and it didn't seem that hard, just need sun to cure. Many many years ago I've went to the orange tent ppl that fixed them at Canadian tire parking lots but I haven't seen them around much recently, forgot what the company was called.

Halp, thanks

If you have comprehensive insurance on your policy, rock chips repairs are free now. So IMO, it no longer make sense to DIY if you have comprehensive coverage.

I have used Speedy Glass a whole bunch of times with good results, and have had friends used Broco Glass with good reasults as well.

A couple of things to keep in mind:

- not all rock chips are repairable

- if you have too many of them on the windshield, some shops will refuse to keep patching it up for you

- sometimes the repairs come out completely invisible, but at least from my experience, usually it leaves a very tiny mark behind

Fill it, wait for your insurance to swing around, and buy the lowest deductible. Wait 24hrs, and lean on it lol

Yup, windshield only.

For the bumper, there is always DIY bondo + rattle can spray paint. 😬🙈

has anyone noticed this year an increase in rock chips? I've only had a rock chip once in the last 10 years, but this year I've had 3!

I got 2!! But it was because of driving back from Cache Creek behind some jerk in a Focus RS and his Subaru buddy

(may have also had to follow closer to use their headlights because mine were absolute shit)

Noticed the roads are shittier (well Vancouver that is). Lots of unpatched potholes. There is this hole on one of the inside streets where I live, CoV put cones around it, been like that for 1-2 months. Lazy overpaid city workers....

I saw a little news segment in the UK that Rod Stewart hired a gravel truck and was out there shoveling gravel into potholes on some road that leads up to his mansion because the city wouldn't fix them hahaha... then the Roadworks Dept put out a notice saying citizens attempting to fix roads on their own leave themselves open to liability if anything goes wrong from the repair lol

I have to say in the shots they showed of the road it was absolutely atrocious... Rod said his Ferrari Enzo can't navigate it. I feel his pain sort of.
