Best movie theater in vancouver?

Who has and where is the best movie theater in vancouver and the lower mainland?

Best screen and best sound system.....it's time for Top Gun 2!!

Gumby 05-18-2022 11:39 AM

IMAX screen? One in Richmond, the other in Langley I believe.

TOS'd 05-18-2022 11:58 AM

LieMAX

I quite enjoyed the marine/Cambie theatre. Marine gateway? I think. Always enjoyed their AVX movies, incredible sound. Usually fairly quiet too so that’s nice

supafamous 05-18-2022 12:33 PM

Probably Richmond or Langley IMAX at this point.

I'm catching Top Gun 2 at Brentwood as its close to me and I like the VIP seats but I'm also going to make the hike to Victoria if the Royal BC Museum shows Top Gun 2 on their IMAX (it's the largest in Canada and true IMAX screen).

PeanutButter 05-18-2022 01:21 PM

VIP cinema's are so bad. They're not comfortable at all.

All my friends say Landmark is the most comfortable as their seats completely recline. I've never been because their locations aren't convenient for me.

For audio and video, IMAX is probably the one to go see.

Fafine 05-18-2022 01:42 PM

Anyone try screen x?

68style 05-18-2022 01:48 PM

I love Landmark I won’t go anywhere else…

Don’t care if it’s not the best sound or screen tech wise… just great to watch there

blkgsr 05-18-2022 02:16 PM

went to surrey landmark and it actually wasn't bad....new west one was a big mistake

i was thinking brentwood VIP, saw a movie there first COVID ease up and thought it was ok just can't remember which is best. pretty sure it's not AVX

Guildford has awesome seats, it's twice as far for me as Langley but usually go there.

TOS'd 05-18-2022 03:07 PM

New west is definitely the worst Landmark.

keifun 05-18-2022 05:16 PM

Landmark Cinemas (Surrey/New West) for the comfort, fully reclinable seats
Cineplex at Brentwood for overall video/audio and comfort, reclinable seats too

I think Metrotown is the worse.

PeanutButter 05-18-2022 07:32 PM

What's wrong with New West Landmark versus the Guildford one?

Yep Marine Gateway has the best vip theatre, although I haven't been to Brentwoods cineplex yet

But for years we'd drive out of our way to go to marine gateway, load up on snacks at the t&t downstairs and into the vip :lol

The seats at other vip theatres I've been to suck, but Langley Imax for top gun

Shame we don't have 4D theatres here, saw Crimes of Grindelwald in 4D in Australia and it was awesome

Teriyaki 05-18-2022 09:31 PM

Booked IMAX Riverport for Top Gun Maverick. Going to be the first time back in an IMAX theatre in maybe a decade.

ssjGoku69 05-19-2022 12:22 AM

I've only been to the New West Landmark which is leaps and bounds better than Cineplex.
What makes the Surrey Landmark better?

edit: Nevermind, googled Surrey Landmark Theatre. Seems like it's everything else outside of the theatre room that's nicer

68style 05-19-2022 08:02 AM

Yah I only go to the New West Landmark... not sure what's so bad about it

blkgsr 05-19-2022 08:05 AM

new west one had piss smells at each of the different entrances....that's all lol and shitty parking (had a truck then)

surrey was way better for parking

looked at langley imax for tickets but was getting error messages, i'll keep trying

TOS'd 05-19-2022 08:08 AM

new west has more sight-line issues for some seats. theatres were fit into a space that wasn't originally designed for theatres.

spoon.ek9 05-19-2022 09:53 AM

I only go to Landmark now (New West). Short drive from Richmond and tickets are usually cheaper too. Having to go back to those shitty ass uncomfortable seats at Cineplex is just torture now. I'd rather pay for a friend's ticket than have to go through with being so uncomfortable for hours. Maybe I'll check out the Landmark in Surrey since y'all praising it so much lol.

Landmark New West was my go to pre-pandemic.

gilly 05-19-2022 11:21 AM

I always go to Landmark new west. Havn't been to cineplex in a long time.

My friend once told me he doesn't like landmark because you can see the red illuminated EXIT signs on the bottom left and right corners. Apparently it bothers him and cineplex doesn't have that lol.

The screen is smaller compared to AVX screens though.

man, i'm already paranoid about driving to vancouver. totally forgot about the surrey jacks :lol

CRS 05-20-2022 05:47 PM

Dunbar theater for me.

Tickets are the right price and the seats are simply the best out there.

Their popcorn is also great and you can add flavouring like sour cream and onion/cheddar/pickle to it (free).
